Re: An FM talker goes back to AM

101.1FM is now a simulcast of La Ley from the eastern part of the market.

Re: Tech Practice Tests

Try eham.net. select HamTestOnline. I haven't used it. QRZ was the standard, but give this a shot.

Re: Electronics roasting....

Magic smoke is priceless, but if you have had no further problems, I would vote on the furnace. When we fire ours up for the first time, there is always dust and other crap in the ducts that get hot. Hope that's it.

Re: vinyl to digital music

There are companies who will do that, but I will do it as well! Don't know where you are, but if you would like to drop me a note at Pat@bellcurveproductions.com we could discuss it.

I've been listening with the cans strapped to my head. Sounds very good to me.

Anybody going to Shelby?

Unfortunately, not I, but hopefully lots of you will be able to make it. Hope you will visit the K4EG booth(s) from Burlington, NC. We will have lots of stuff to peddle. From what I have seen on our reflector, there's going to be some good values. Enjoy!

Icom 746-Pro for sale

This one has been powered up with the backlight on 100% forever. It does not seem to have some of the failures of earlier models. I've had it in service for the past 4 years running with Ham Radio Deluxe into a lap top. I just need the money. I'll include the matching PS 125 power supply and and Ico...

Re: Those wacky engineers...

We had an LNB that was about to die. The solution until we could replace it, was that I went out and sprayed water from a garden hose on it to cool it off. Brought the signal back just fine, but I never thought my job description was to be Lawn Boy!

Re: FM band thermals

Thanks for the updated map, NECRAT. Looks like the propagation has shifted to the south. I'm in NC, at the northern end. Love propagation on VHF. HF is boring

Re: FM band thermals

Definitely have noticed it. A Class C station (WCPE) maybe 55 air miles from me has been getting clobbered. Good 2 meter catches as well.

Allan, I got there sort of late (10:30). Don't know if you made it, but it was a good one. Lots of familiar faces. I think our club had a dozen or so to show up. Would like to see you one of these days.

Re: Augmented field vs. C.P. Max

I am coming close to cracking the infinite improbability drive, so our transmitters can travel across the galaxy at tremendous speeds to serve all the outposts of humanity with multiple feeds of all that Clear Channel et all have to serve up.Better living through radio.
