Re:my maniacal laughter

Do you realize the trouble you would have been in if that occurred at an airport? I got into a similar discussion when a sales grunt tried to sell me some very large diameter speaker cable that was terminated in 1/16" diameter pins. I get my "Monster Cable" at the electrical section at Ace Hardware....

Re: Static Dissipators?

Due to old age....here is one idea I forgot about. Waaaayyyy back when.......WTMJ AM 620 kHz in Milwaukee had a three tower in-line array. Two short towers with a tall Franklin on the North end of the array. They had a static problem which was treated with - as I recall - a 100,000 ohm non inductive...

Look before you leap, Fossil!

I thought way back then that they were a foreign company. After a quick look-see, I discovered they are a US company. Sorry for the veiled insinuation they were foreign made.

Re: Any opinion on MACHLETT transmitter tubes.

My only experience was back in about 1965-66 shortly after starting work in sales at Harris in Quincy. They were trying to use one of their jugs in a vapor phased cooled 50kw AM xmttr (VP-50 development). They were not successful in that application at all, and they switched to EIMAC. Other than tha...

The lights are on but nobodys home.

I been lurking in the shadows all day, but it is really quiet. I wonder if that means everything is working fine?

Lightning-----IT IS ALIVE! It is intelligent. It evolves. Just when you think you have conquered it....it gets you in the butt! Re: Look what took my 50kw off the air

Waaay back in the dark ages of the late 50/s, I worked as a studio engineer at KVOO in Tulsa....50kw, 1170KHZ, 3 twr DA-N. I noticed on summer nights, the xmttr would momentarily trip off with the air monitor emitting a warning buzz. Called the xmttr eng and he said it was caused by June bugs flying...

I googled the SN1147 and it popped up an LTC 1147/SN1147. Spec sheet is available with full detail. Don't know if it is what you need. Check it out.

Re: Nautel NV10LT P/S FUSES

Going out on a limb here, but I dun that many times. Had more than a couple instances where I had recurring fuses getting blown. I traced them to the fuse clips that they sat it. I would suggest you test the tensions of the clips by exercising them with a fuse to insure they are pretty snug. Second ...

Deep:

Thanks for the update re coil parts from Gates Air.

Good thing I got some spares on hand for those coils, and two spare coils. Now you got me wondering about the motorized contactor parts. Only got a couple fingers left for them. :(

Re: HARRIS COILS

Forgot to mention, I had two of those coils get kinda green and arcy sparky in the phasor and ended up rehabbing them into pretty nice spares. Lots of scrubbing with scotch brite and cleaner worked great. Basically bought one new coil for immediate repair, and grabbed a bunch of parts. Did similar r...
