Re: sdi switcher

I'd be curious to know what the video pro's here think of this: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/atem/models/ the 1 M/E version might fit the bill for the OP, it has one set of analog ins and 4HD/SD-SDI inputs. depending on his app he may not nee the control panel in which case it is quite ...

Re: Audio punch blocks

I've wired 5 studio's now on 66 blocks, no problems except one. It was a contract job and the guy had already ordered wire. He had some single pair stuff with really thick insulation on the pairs that made unreliable punches, had to go back and strip then punch those.....no problems with belden 8452...

Re: Live truck in Orlando hits bridge

So it was a Technical malfunction that caused the accident, huh. sure it wasn't a human malfunction.....

is this as common as it seems, mast related accidents that is. seems like there have been a few here lately that made it to this board....

Re: BNC to RJ45 Converter

Due to the inner core of RG59 cable being larger than a single Cat6a core I understand the impedance will probably be mismatched, and there is less shielding so we won't be able to send HD-SDI very far over it. My plan was to use all 8 cores, 4 live 4 return. Does this sound feasible? I realise the...

Re: Compression Conectors

The spring contacts to the center wire got flaky, and we wound up spending most of our time chasing intermittent level problems. That's also why I probably won't be looking to adopt a BNC connector that doesn't have a crimped center pin, especially for HD-SDI applications. -- Jeff That was my main ...

Re: Wiring a new control room - SDI or Analog SDTV?

Sketchup has a online "Warehouse" of models, have you looked there? Sketchup is also very easy to use if you want to make your own models. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ Just searching the term "broadcast" brings up some random equipment, along with numerous seemingly unrelated items.....Ha...

Re: Compression Conectors

Will you be using the ones like I linked to or the newer DB series? they take different tools and I have not tried the newer ones. I have always had good luck with them and have been using them for over 3 years now. I have had problems with cheaper compression connectors, so definitely buy the high ...

Re: wiring diagram - 360 like system

AS Doc says, use the tel output to the input of your telos, I just rewired a studio for a station I do part time work for, and this is exactly what we did. The board was a millenium digital, and the phone patch was a JK audio Innkeeper, works like a charm. To wire it you need to find the TEL output ...

Re: PL Headset XLR4 to 2.5mm TRS?

http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/microphone_powering.html#basic this may be useful if you can do DIY electronics. if you have the carbon mic input that may be adaptable as well, carbon mics use a bias voltage also. as I said, i may just have to get one of those headsets and do some experiments. on...
