Re: looking for review of dbx 266XS

If there are peaks that sound ratty, the audio is already peak limiting. You may want an ACG unit like the Symetrix 422.

Re: Inventory Advice needed.

You should find out from the company's accountants what's considered capital vs operating expense $$. Any item valued less than the breakpoint, don't inventory it. A spread sheet may be fine to use. A company that produces things would have inventory, and that would take something better. Use a sepa...

Re: Inventory Advice needed.

First thing, determine what value ($$) an object needs to have before counting everything. Many objects should be considered expensable (consumable) rather than depreciable. There's a few companies of the web that'll make to asset tags with incrementing numbers. You could get them with bar codes too...

Re: Arrakis Console issue

sounds like ch 5 has a bad chip, where it mixes it's signal to the buss(es). Got a print? Look for what applies the ch output (post fader) to those busses. Try swapping the chip with a different ch. See if the problem moves to the other ch. Tantalums around that chip would be suspect, also.

I'm so excited about the eclipse, I got up a 5am to get ready for it. It was so dark out, I thought, damn, I almost missed it.

Re: Harris HT30 issue

Last time I had one of those boxes, there was an auxiliary contact on the HV or mains contactor that would lose full contact and open up to about 300 ohms. Just enough to shut it off. This was a HT or CD, can't remember which.

Re: Mounting stuff to old concrete block wall?

When you're all done, you'll find the dryer's cord is 6 inches to short to reach the new outlet.
Or as my wife would say, I tried to add an outlet, ended up replacing the roof.

Re: Mounting stuff to old concrete block wall?

Mounting the outlet to a board is generally acceptable. Using a hammer drill with a TapCon screw anchor is the modern way, but you need to have a lot of elbow grease to keep the drill steady. In the Old Days, I'd use a hardened punch and heavy hammer to start the first hole. Mount the back plate of ...

Re: No sound onair after fading in Outside Broadcast feed

Seems like your off-line monitoring is one channel only, but it is stereo on the board. If the stereo on the board is out of phase, there will be nearly complete cancelling of the right/left channels, sum of which is no audio on-air. Swap the hi and lo of the left channel only at the board (fader) i...

Re: Moving SS32 to new Win 7 machines

I'll add that if you have to change any computer/drive/station folder names, follow the old 8 character rule. Do not use spaces. And use the fully qualified path names in dispatch. Did I see that the old pc's were Win2K? SS32 will work fine in XP. Since M$oft has quit supporting it, assume they fina...

Cover the inside with shiny tin-foil, and focus on a solar panel.
Great for grilling pheasant, also.
