Re: Sony BVH2000PS tension adjustment.

Hello, Karol, and welcome to the forum. I think you’re in the right place. There was some recent discussion about this machine and it’s cousins in this very forum (Ask the Engineers) not very long ago, so it should be easy to find. Seems they went over some of the same things you are needing help wi...

Re: Harris/Gates support

How long ago was that, Jake? About two months ago Thanks for pointing that out, Mark. So it was $1200 in November. Looked up the invoice. It was $2300+ in December. Difference being, perhaps in part giving them the benefit of the doubt, they were selling us the p.s. as the actual direct replacement...

Re: Harris/Gates support

How long ago was that, Jake? We had a similar problem with a 35 toward the end of ‘17, bought the power supply from them but it was considerably more than $1200, IIRC.

Yep. Totally agree with you both, living in a state where Cochise once operated...or didn’t.

Re: Arrakis Automation

I don’t think you’re alone, Bob. My company used to install Arrakis boards until they started to favor the engine/surface networked stuff ten or fifteen years ago. They got some good life out of those. Our chief here doesn’t like them but his dad used to spec and install them and I think he said Dad...

Re: Revitalized AM Translators

1) I needed to re-read this: That CP condition only applies if the AM station is operating with "reduced facilities" and is only on the newly-minted Auction 99 facilities which are forever married to the AM. ( My emphasis added ) and 2) of course, it’s a math calculation (computing the 2mV/m reduced...

Re: Revitalized AM Translators

That’s right, Doug. Apparently the actual wording changed to “the greater of” the two contours, yet a couple of paragraphs down (sub paragraph j) reference is still made to the lesser of the two contours being the definition of the AM fill-in area. I’m not sure what significance that subgraf has. Bu...

Re: What is this? A 5 kw Dummy Load or what?

Wasn’t 52 ohms once a common impedance for coaxial cable? We have at least one AM site that uses 52 ohm coax. That the BC-1T designers chose 412 ohm resistors instead of 400 indicates perhaps they were trying to get closer to 52. Not too much different but enough that a solid state final might mildl...
