Re: NBC: spurious Namedropper trigger?

Now I have one that isn't happening but needs to:)

I have 52/0F for the DID/SDID for the local ID logo. I'm thinking the code for the Today Show crawl is different - anyone know? If so, what it is?

Thanks!

IPAWS outage?

Did anyone else get notification of IPAWS going offline between 21:42 (CT) last night and 07:51 this morning?

Re: Convert to LEDs, or leave 110v?

Those are the neatest thing since sliced bread for us TV guys trying to provide tally lights one can actually see....

BTW, LED bulbs are available in a number of colors. We replaced the incandescant bulbs in our mike lights with green LEDs; MUCH easier to see.

Re: Closed Caption in Digital TV - How?

Ah.

I don't know of any way to do it on the editing machine. You do need a separate caption encoder. I Googled on "ISDB-T caption encoder" and found this:
http://www.eitv.com.br/en/produtos/wohl ... ecoder-cc/

This one is for Brazil; I'm not certain it will be correct for other countries.

Re: Closed Caption in Digital TV - How?

What is the digital TV standard in your country? In the USA the EIA-708 standard is used for captions. In practice captions are found in the ancillary data of the SDI video stream and encoded into the video stream in the MPEG-2 encoder. I would start by checking the specifications for your MPEG enco...

Re: Pirates captured

His drone was homemade. He was flying a SDR and a Raspberry Pi. We have a couple of Phantom 4's here at WSMV - I'm of the impression this guy's drone has far more capacity than a Phantom 4.

Re: Pirates captured

(There was an interesting presentation on that topic at the Broadcaster's Clinic two weeks ago. He mentioned (but hadn't tried) another interesting application -- flying a thermal imaging camera to check for transmission line and antenna hotspots.)

Re: KFXL Fox 15 in Lincoln NE Tower Collapses

There's a rumor on Facebook that the guy wires were not properly maintained. That is however just a rumor and I know nothing about the quality of the source.

Re: ESPN3 streaming parameters?

Finally resolved this after trying five different PCs:( 1: Had even more trouble decoding the stream than the original machine. 1: Refused to install the drivers for the TV tuner card (this machine is also occasionally used to record the competition). Refuses to install unsigned drivers and no signe...

Re: ESPN3 streaming parameters?

That's what I was looking for, thanks!

They stopped by this noon & logged in for me. Turns out the computer we're using isn't up to the task. It'll play CBC-TV just fine (at 2.6Mbps) but it can't handle the faster ESPN stream.

ESPN3 streaming parameters?

Anyone know the codec & bitrate they're using for this stream? Our sports guys have a subscription -- they're complaining it's stuttering & breaking up. I can stream other programs on the same computer without problems. I'm suspecting there's a problem with a codec on this machine, but I don't know ...

Did you hear anything interesting? It took me awhile to review all the recordings... Identified about 130 stations. Nine metropolitan Chicago stations as small as 500 watts. FCC runs out of LPTV callsigns (kinda)

High-VHF channels have always been popular for translators in the West. The DTV conversion bumped many to new channels and got us pretty close to the end of the alphabet in some places. K07ZR (Harlowton, Montana); K09ZB (Havre, Montana); and K13ZS (Sargents, Colorado) were assigned. I figured the re...
