Re: Moving SS32 to new Win 7 machines

32 bit, 64 bit, doesn't matter to Scott. Nor does it use much memory. The on-air machines can be just about anything as long as the audio cards fit. Production you'll build up to run your audio editors, Adobe or whatever you choose. TLC will be just fine on whatever you end up with. ASI no longer ke...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

Never a dull moment but I don't know if my nerves can stand much more vehicle problems. Agreed there. At the end of the day you really just want to get back home. Having to call a second tow truck ("how the hell did you do that?") to extricate the first tow truck you called ("how the hell did you d...

If you go the 600:600 transformer route, get two for the spare you'll need after the first one sacrificed it self on the altar of lightning. :D
I started adding MOV's across the primaries and secondaries and the carnage stopped.

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

Thanks Kevin. Gave the dish a nudge and the EB numbers came right back to 12-15+ That mount is unstable. The coffee shop does not close until 9pm which gives us about 15 minutes of daylight to work. May have to work out a deal directly with the building's owner. I think I will take your advice and r...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

Then...there was this one. To reach it we had to park a bucket truck in the driveway of a small coffee shop. They were not amused and called the police, who told us to move the truck. Now. This, despite my sending a letter to the place last spring AND leaving several messages (none returned) to info...

Manual needed: Ampro AC-8/10 Console

Manual or schematics needed to help with a rebuild. Console is not being returned on-air, but part of a functional "retro" show studio. Thanks!

Re: The Looming Engineering Age Crisis

I am constantly heckled by the older engineers for not remembering what I consider "reference book" materials which I would rather look up in a pocket reference or iPhone app than to memorize That is so completely opposite my experience, those older than me have gone out of their way to be helpful,...

Re: Streamer PC hit by ransomware

We have been considering tying then all together on their own dedicated Internet pipe from a local provider, conveniently located in our building. That is what we finally did, fiber drop into the building and all our streams are served on it. Cisco router with everything in stealth mode except for ...

Re: Streamer PC hit by ransomware

Wannacry and several variants scan the internet for open SMB ports. If those are open in your firewall (or as DT was asking, if you have none), that might well have been the path in. Crypto Sheriff here might be able to identify what you have: www.nomoreransom.org I have a feeling we're going to be ...

Re: Contactors! Clear the driveway before going to bed, wake up to another 12-18"

Chuck-try driving around in the winter "Up Nort" in da UP, dere hey! Houghton-Hancok, Marquette, Ishpeming, Hurley Burly/Ironwood, etc where the big truck snow plows have a second "wing plow" so they can "terrace" the snow. Ain't no way, if you lose control up there, that you would even be able to ...

Re: Contactors!

You guys forgot your snowshoes, mufflers (scarves for you Southern boys), jumper cables and one shot instant start. And don't forget the lock de-icer. Clear the driveway before going to bed, wake up to another 12-18". That's when I gave up and got a truck with a plow blade. IIRC you were just West ...

We used one of these

on the back side of one of those Comtech dishes. Worked just fine.

Spec An plots never looked like the printouts for us either, but the receivers locked and have good numbers.
