Re: Broadcast Tools SS8.2 Power Supply

I have one switching a webstream running on two AC:AC transformers in a plastic Bud box. I used a 36 V CT not 34.5 and a 9.5V instead of 10.5 but nothing seems to care. Probably $20 in parts. Those OEM power supplies don't last anywhere near as long as the switchers do...they run pretty hot.

Re: Sat downlink problem

What has changed recently? New antennas nearby? I've had WiMax installations wipe my C-band stuff right out. Are the SunCom dishes all co-located where TI could possibly be affecting them all? Looking at the LNB output with a spectrum analyzer might be interesting.

Re: Required acres of land

Ouch on a half-acre...sometimes the land just isn't available. At 50% guyed, which is very doable, it'd be a plot of 190 X 190 or 0.8 acres. Local zoning may require more, if they require you own any land onto which the tower may fall. Not that they ever fall and lay out their full length..but argui...

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

The bluetooth mixer connects to a bluetooth enabled cellphone. Tried it, didn't like it. Bluetooth just wasn't all that reliable. Usually saw the mixer, but not always. Had to re-do the "pair" thing on the phone too often. There are XLR adapters to fit many phones...plug your mixer into that. One ex...

Re: Arrakis Console issue

I had considered that, problem is 11 of the 12 channels would have to have a fault. When one particular channel is on -air, IIRC it's channel #5, putting any other channel in program or audition drops the level on that #5 by 20db. Any other combination of channels works fine. It has to be something ...

Arrakis Console issue

Arrakis 2000SCT-12S console. One particular channel drops levels about 20 db when any other channel is put into either program or audition. All other channels play nicely with each other. Out of ideas, the dumpster is looking like a promising solution...but I'd really like to fix it if possible. Ide...

There used to be serial connected software for those that made programming a lot easier, but it seems to have disappeared.

Re: Aphex Compellor

Clinton; I have a printed manual. Message me with the email address and I'll scan it for you. There are some recommended settings in the book, depending on what you are using it for. It's really hard to make a Compellor sound bad though. No common failures, no mods that are worthwhile. They work jus...

Re: 6 KW Transmitter Ballpark price

Elenos makes good stuff. We have a couple of their 5kW FM boxes and they, so far, just run. Not sure I want to try to fix them though, they are tightly packed.

Re: Bad hum

I haven't checked the Marti transmitter yet(possible problem?). You bet it is. - if you have a Marti STL 10 transmitter, the power supply is a common source of hum/buzz in the audio. The factory supply runs hot, the caps eventually fail, the plug connector and pins fail, sometimes the PC board itse...

Re: You need this

IIRC, the freq response improved! You probably RC. One of those on each end converting from 600 ohms to 150 and back was an "old" trick to get better freq. response out of a dry pair. 8) Sometimes it was enough to get a short TELCO loop EQ'd reasonably well. 600' here between the STL receiver and t...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

Lost satellite signal, found the dish pointed across the street. Actuator arm stripped and let loose, the force of the dish dropping down to vertical bent or loosened almost everything. Ugh. I think that dish is far too heavy for the light-duty polar mount it was installed on. After tilting it back ...
