I sent them a message several days ago with 3 simple questions about the VS300 and no one responded.
How did you send them a message?

Re: Required acres of land

Most jurisdictions in populated areas are deathly afraid of lawsuits so they require 100% fall radius. That means 2.6 acres, a 190 foot radius from the tower. If your local permitting agency is not quite so inane, you can easily tuck one of these into a corner of a field somewhere at 50% guy radius ...

Re: IP address

What browser are you using? Do you have Flash installed?

The AUI connects inbound on port 80 but then redirects to 3501.

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

What are you wanting to use Bluetooth for? The audio connection to a phone?

Bluetooth has extremely limited range so anything not within about 20 feet will be sketchy if it works at all.

Re: DX-50 works as speaker

"station audio comes out of the back of the TX" That is definitely something arcing under modulation conditions. It is possible to tune one of these into a load which will cause all sorts of issues at full power while showing 0 reflected power. Your first step should be to verify that the transmitte...

Re: SoundExchange Solution?

"sans whatever SoundExchange wanted"

The problem with that is SoundExchange wants $ for each copyrighted recording played. Unless the programming is original to the station and/or public domain, there isn't a way to "sans" it.

Re: Sine Remote Control

It's the same commands as the phone codes, but the unit has to have the serial port and the correct firmware version. You can do it with a simple terminal program. See attached excerpts from the manual. It wouldn't be that hard to write something to work from a spreadsheet dump and do all of the pro...

Re: Vertical or Circular polarization FM Broadcast

One corroborating incident does not prove a theory. I can point to at least three stations whose effective auto coverage area more than doubled when they switched from H to CP. The other issue with that argument is "{i}n the real world, signals arrive at the receiver randomly polarized." That is tru...

Re: Bleed over

A couple thoughts: 1) The "combiners" are just traps set for the other station''s frequency. At this frequency spacing you've probably got three parts in each, one coil and two capacitors on the 1230 KHz side and two coils and one capacitor on 1450 KHz side. Once set these do not normally require ma...

Remember that skywave is dependent on conditions at geomagentic midpoint latitude, not necessarily the geographic midpoint. It would be interesting to see what the signal levels were.

Re: 6 KW Transmitter Ballpark price

It basically comes down to a choice between toilet paper roll transmitters and ones you can fix and keep running instead of throwing them away and tearing off a new one when the old one dies. In the long run you'll spend more on the throwaway option. Gates Air was running a ridiculous sale earlier, ...

Re: EAS Antenna Issue

First...yes you can complain about the translator, but why start a fight? You "start a fight" because the translator licensee is responsible for clearing this up. That means they are on the hook for the expenses necessary to return the affected station to its pre-translator scenario. Having said th...

Re: EAS Antenna Issue

Call the originating station and/or translator licensee and file a complaint that the translator is blocking reception of the "regularly received signal" of the class-A station. No I am not kidding. This is their problem, not yours.
