Re: Tandberg RX-1290 shows service but no streams?

1. Do you have the DVB-S2 option?
2. Is the video you want in DVB-S2?

If you do not have the S2 option and the video is S2, you will not get any video out since S2 is MPEG4 and DVB is MPEG2.

Re: Combining two AMs at one site

I diplexed two stations with folded dipoles on the same tower back in the early 80's. FCC had to scratch their heads on that one but they licensed it.

Re: Whistling Birdie in FM signal

I remember one really good ducting in the summer of 1986. It was around 6am when I get a call from the morning guys all in a panic. Over the off air monitors was another station that wasn't even the same format and they had no transmitter control or readings! I turned on the radio and sure enough ou...

Re: STL antenna move

I have 2 RECEIVE sites (one a main and one a backup) receiving the SAME ONE TRANSMITTER, on the same channel, shooting to the same property, just two towers 600 ft apart and they made me license BOTH "paths" of the same transmitter. So I have ONE transmitter with ONE ANTENNA with ONE PATH with TWO c...

Re: ClearCom XLR

Sounding totally stupid, can't the wires just be resoldered to the connector or is there more damage that can't be seen? There isn't a lot of room left to strip the wires and get enough space to resolder. The tear in the connector is right at the poles and would prefer to get a fresh one rather tha...

Re: Base Jumpers

Had some night tower work going on about 15 years ago and the local Sheriff's department rolled up with lights flashing wanting to know, "What the hell is goin' on here!" After some explaining to them that we were the owners and had PAID workers on the tower, they said they had just run off some Bas...

Re: Larcan Support Announced.

Joe Wozniak was just by here yesterday to let us know Maple Leaf is still in business supporting legacy Larcan and is doing low power installs for translators and such. Depending on how the repack goes, they may also be offering higher power gear. In the last couple of months Joe and his guys have r...

Re: Who moved my tower?

I've run into one DA that wasn't oriented correctly (magnetic north isn't where you'd think it should be when there's iron ore in the ground) Magnetic north is not a trustworthy reference in such a case because DA orientation is specified in relation to true north. I have always used a licensed sur...

Re: FCC ruling against "ND" FM for running a DA

Just catching up on this thread. The antenna was "directionalized" with parasitics that "optimized the signal over one town and cut the other town out completely. When an independent consulting engineer looked at the modeled pattern, (no one would listen to me, what did I know, I was just the local ...

I don't think those are even prototype Marti equipment. Looks homebrew to me or they are a VERY EARLY George Marti prototypes (like maybe his first try?).

Re: Are those Sono-Mag carousels in the background of one picture?

The broadcast museum might want a DP series SonoMag. That system looks like it has been rode hard and put up wet.
