Activation Help?

I've noticed that (unfortunately) the host that we use often ends up on RBL's because of naughty people - such is the nature of shared hosting. When that happens, many email servers end up rejecting the activation email. So, if you're trying to register for the site and do not receive an activation ...

Re: New member - LPFM transmitter recommendations

I too can recommend Nautel. I've installed a VS300, VS1, and two VS2.5's (in addition to several bigger ones). Nautels are generally problem-free (I've had minor issues here and there, but no show stoppers) and have outstanding support. They also come with a lot of neat features, like a built-in Sho...

There are several providers that will give you various levels of support for that...

StreamGuys
SecureNet
WideOrbit

Just a few that will handle the backend. Essentially what you need for reporting is a form showing what songs played and how many listeners were online when the song played.

Hurricane Help

We received a request from a member (who is also a very experienced Engineer) offering to volunteer his services for any station in need of emergency assistance that has been affected by the hurricane in Texas. I’m sure there may be others who are in a position to volunteer as well. Please use this ...

Re: Harris HT30 issue

I had a similar issue with an HT20 several years ago. It had to do with the sensitivity of the overload circuit. There were some capacitor banks on the power line near the site, and whenever they'd do their thing the ripple on the line drove the controller of the HT20 nuts. For the life of me, I don...

Re: High Pitched Tone in FM Audio?

Is the transmitter still running the Digit or Digit CD exciter? If so, get ahold of service bulletins FM-535-WCF and FM-580-WCF from the Gatesair web site. Both bulletins address audio tones generated in the exciter caused by dried-up capacitors. Perhaps something was missed in the previous repair ...

Re: Wheatnet vs AXIA

Axia has many similar features, though silence-sensing is generally done through software like Pathfinder. If I'm not mistaken, it can also be done via SNMP. Really these days, AoIP preference is much like processing preference. All the brands do a great job, it comes down to which one you prefer. I...

Re: Barix levels

cheap (but reliable) boxes I'm not buying this excuse. If you have to add all sorts of band-aid level converters and adapters to a piece of equipment you're exponentially increasing the potential for failure while increasing the end-cost. I'd much rather buy one properly designed box that presents ...

Re: Barix levels

Unfortunately, it is normal behavior. They don't design those as reference levels (as you've noticed). There is no correlation between the input level of an Exstreamer and the output level of an Instreamer. My guess is because besides being cheap (but reliable) boxes, the Extreamer can feed all kind...

Re: Receive antenna height for translator

631 is a casual receiver. You need a 640 or 650. Sloppy engineering. Uh, can we be polite? I'm not a moderator here but I have to believe you are skating on thin ice. I, for one, would hate to lose your perspective and experience. That may be the only reason you haven't heard from a moderator yet. ...

BroadcastTools SiteSentinel 4

Howdy!

I'm trying to get the silence alarm on the SiteSentinel 4 to send an SNMP trap. Has anyone gotten this to work? Basically I want to tie a Burk status channel to it so it will dial out on the loss of audio. My Burk at this site is SNMP only, so I don't have much in the way of options.
