Re: Wanna Play "Guess What's in the Grey Box?"

Pretty sure that is a Sage Endec in the pics, which does have its own interrupt relays.

The box could be someone's homebrew version of a multi-station relay gismo. It does kinda look like there is a pair of wires between the box and the Endec relay outputs.

Re: Wanna Play "Guess What's in the Grey Box?"

Given all of the XLR connectors spraying out of that box, I would guess it is somebody's half-assed distribution amplifier (or passive splitter). Maybe to split off air chain audio to different destinations.

Re: EAS911 Unit, trying to understand relay closures

The other end of that cable should be going to either a TFT EAS-940 relay box, or else a homebrew relay apparatus, to insert EAS audio into an air chain. The DC voltage on one of your wires is probably coming from the relay coil(s) in the TFT relay box. The relay inside the EAS911 will route it to g...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

The AMC-18 replacement satellite was successfully launched by Space-X yesterday evening (10/11). The C-band portion of it will be known as "SES-11". Reportedly it will be placed into service in late November. Typically the operator will switch from the old to the new bird in the middle of the night,...

Re: ETRS Reporting Forms 2 & 3 09/27/2017

What browser were you using? There were many, many problems reported by those trying to use Internet Exploder.

Firefox and Chrome apparently work much better with ETRS. I used Chrome for filing Forms 1 & 2 (still working on 3) and have had no problems.

I'm glad you were able to find a transmitter that suits your needs.

If you please, do report back after you have installed the box and lived with it for awhile.

Re: Required acres of land

Not that they ever fall and lay out their full length.. Actually we had a tower fall in more or less a straight line. It was a 280-foot AM stick and was literally blown flat by a tornado. The wind lifted the base insulator up off the bottom pivot plate and everything fell sideways. The tower landed...

Re: New member - LPFM transmitter recommendations

The VS-300 is 220 volt, but have one running on a 110 to 220 transformer I got off Amazon. Been running that way for several years. Nautel may be able to supply a 110 volt version now. The later model VS-300s have an upgraded power supply that will accept 110VAC on up to about 260VAC. We have a who...

Re: Splitting coverage into markets

I believe OP is outside the US.

Wide Orbit has something they call "leader-follower" that does automated split insertion. Not cheap but that's how the big boys (allegedly) do it. Some of the other automation providers may have similar solutions but that's one I know about.

I didn't think it was that old either....but there's this: https://www.desmoinesbroadcasting.com/kioa/harris-dx10.html Says the prototype went on air in September 1987, or very nearly 30 years ago. Back to the topic, I assume you have checked all PS voltages and shaken the big blue caps to see if th...

Re: Dead Harris - X1000B Suggestion

I have not dealt much with BE AM transmitter support, but we have a couple of BE solid state FM boxes. One of them was partially under water for a couple of weeks after a hurricane last fall. We got it working again but it shows signs of being a problem child for whatever time it has left. BE was pr...

Re: Has anyone received the new Nielsen monitors?

We got ours not long after I turned in the paperwork (and boy howdy did they pester me about finishing that). They are still sitting in their boxes in the rack room. I just haven't had time to clear out multiple rack units of space and pull new wiring to get them working. I have no clue whether PPM ...

Don't bother unless your house is wired with oxygen-free Romex. And never mind the miles and miles of "ordinary" conductor between your house and the power plant.

The "reviews" are unintentionally hilarious. "They even checked my order to make sure it was right!"

AMC-8 seems to be back up today on our "nightlight" receiver. EB is varying up and down by a couple dB or so. Guess somebody at SES is having some fun with the knobs 8)
