Re: Harris FM-25K issue

The screen breaker trick works with the Harris HT-10 also. I have one of my clients running that way now due to icing. :( This site has always been ice-sensitive, and even if the screen voltage is driven down by the VSWR foldback control, it sometimes isn't enough. Even with screen off, we've had a ...

Re: USB Keyboards/Mice for Studio

DO NOT use more than one wireless keyboard/mouse in the same studio! And make the jocks set up a battery replacement schedule. One of my clients insisted on a wireless keyboard for their automation. They got REALLY lucky...the keyboard died at the end of the playoff football game broadcast this yea...

Yep...my two HT-10's have a PA efficiency of 77-78%.

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

Sound quality will not be the best You r best sound quility will be using a barix setup where you run your Audion out of your mixer into the encoder box thru 4 G Internet and then to your studio. If you are no concerned on how it will sound then that's an option. I prefer Quality I understand Not B...

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

Make sure that the bluetooth is 2-way. One of my clients looked at one of the early, cheap consoles with BT connectivity and just before ordering found that the BT was incoming to console only. I have seen others recently that mentioned using it to broadcast phone calls so that may not be a problem...

Re: Silent spot

Several times a year, one of our beloved car dealers runs a 30-second silent spot, with white text on a black background.

Our traffic folks are nice enough to give us a heads-up when that flight is about to start. Helps lessen, but not completely relieves cardiac stress. :)

Re: Broadcast Electronics Console Model 5S150 Issues

Speaking of tanks, I found this in storage at one of my clients... IMG_20171024_213733562.jpg I haven't plugged it in. At some point, the big Cannon jacks were removed and replaced with XLR's. It looks good with its cousin down the hall, an RA1000 that I've been told still probably works, but I'm no...

My last contact with GatesAir was a Z5CD call a year ago. It was at night, but I don't recall if it was a weekend. Called the same number I have for decades...217-222-8200. Walter called me back in a few minutes. I remember the days when the guy that answered the phone overnight could talk you throu...

Re: NBC: spurious Namedropper trigger?

I looked through my Namedropper files and I don't have information that deep into the system operation. We don't use the TS crawl...just a time/temp bug.

DUH....BVH, not BVU! Yeah, 1" makes a difference.

Never had the pleasure of Sony 1". We were an Ampex house...VPR2's.

Re: BVH-2000 guide retraction

What you're after, Sony calls the threading motor, and there are no belts involved: it's a gearmotor assembly that slowly spins a metal wheel with an offset pin that pulls the guide linkage out and pushes it back... Why the heck didn't Panasonic think of that? Replacing the threading drive belt in ...

Re: BVH-2000 guide retraction

Check for slipping belts. Any VTR these days is going to be suspect for cracked or deteriorated rubber parts.

Common on the old MII decks we had...it would get to the point where the pinch roller would try to snap in place, but the belt would slip until it timed out and unthreaded.

Re: Women Hearing Distorsion on Station After STL realign

And as I alluded to in the other thread, make sure the transmit and receive antennas are aligned to the same polarity, or that's going to knock down your signal 20-25dB even with everything else perfect.

And peak BOTH dishes.
