Re: Over-powered translator

Around 102 m at 99 watts. The terrain around it to the south is pretty flat, but to the north, it gets quite hilly.
It's also semi directional as well. Just seems to get out much much much better than it should.

Over-powered translator

So somewhat nearby me, a translator for a foreign language AM station signed on. However I have pretty solid reason to believe they are way over power. Knowing the terrain, other co-located stations, and other nearby signals, this one signal really gets out well. Better than a class A in the next ci...

And that dummy load test of the existing amplifier . . EXCELLENT idea before you jump into the deep end of the pool. It seemed to me that the OP may have been assuming that the brick was bad, instead of troubleshooting the problem. In the nearly 50 years that I have been in broadcast engineering I ...

Re: LPFM Antenna Recommendations

ERI LPX series.

The Nicoms have issues with water penetration as well. Stay away from the "budget brands" like OMB, PSI, etc.

Jampro and Shively make good antennas, but ERI rototiller series is the top shelf. And it's your antenna, the final point before the listeners.

Sencore will give you a discount any new sat receiver, if you hand in an old receiver. Even a competing brand.

Probably won't help him much. He's not in the United States. I would contact this Group: https://natehome.com/ and find out which erector company would be closest to your location. The tower company engineer helps you with permitting, siting, FAA regulations, environmental impact statements, FCC reg...

Ask the questions here on the forum.

Are these questions you're supposed to be asking an engineer, or are they questions you're supposed to answer yourself for your exam?
We won't do your work for you, but could provide guidance...

Re: EAS/CG Question.

That looks like the Winmaster CG, which was part of an EAS package you could purchase with the TFT back in the 90s. The Winmaster would drive a Chyron Codi, as the actual CG generator.

Re: New member - LPFM transmitter recommendations

I'd give BW Broadcast equipment a look. Their TX300 V2 weighs in at under $3,500, complete with audio processor and stereo generator. I've got a client that has a number of them used as translators and they just work. (Yeah, they're made in the UK so far as I know but nothing is perfect.) I've inst...

Re: Harris HT30 issue

Well the issue has been resolved.

The Backup Controller has a solid state relay that was doing it. Apparently the relay on this controller is in service, even if the main is switched on.
My friend swapped out the relay and the problem has not returned.

Re: Hurricane Help

I have some equipment that could be used to borrow to get back on the air on a temporary basis. Crown 500 watt transmitter, Single Bay Rototiller ERI antenna , A couple of Shively single bays. (One low ass end of band, one mid band) May also have a QEI at my disposal as needed too. Outdoor NEMA encl...
