Re: looking for review of dbx 266XS

I've got a line on a source for very reasonably priced, gently used Compellors.

Only processed church audio on Sundays... ;)

Re: computer audio interface - alternative to 3.5mm

I had another company station offer me a Henry USB Matchbox for the cost of shipping.

Re: computer audio interface - alternative to 3.5mm

Oh, and did I mention I am blessed with small form factor PC's with half-height slots?

That's why I'm looking for an external solution.

Re: looking for review of dbx 266XS

All, The "production" here is on-the-fly recordings for AM talk morning show interviews and phone calls. Not really high quality stuff. And since it is live there are no re-takes. I've been doing this for 40 years and you still can't get the announcers to watch their levels in any kind of station, w...

computer audio interface - alternative to 3.5mm

Back in the day a large PC chassis could hold a card with 1/4 inch TRS balanced jacks on a professional sound card. With newer, smaller chassis these days, those cards (ISA anyway) no longer are an option. In coming into this station, I have inherited the 3.5 mm unbalanced audio jacks built onto the...

looking for review of dbx 266XS

I'm thinking about putting a dbx 266xs https://dbxpro.com/en-US/products/266xs in front of my Audition channel distribution amplifier to control recording levels. I've got way too many peaks hitting 0 dbfs and sounding ratty. At only $150 I'm wondering how good it can be. But is way cheaper than the...

Cumulus buys Gates Air Transmitters

Just curious how Cumulus is purchasing 70 Gates Air transmitters when Cumulus is on the edge of going bankrupt, and being split into pieces....

Re: EAS over Barix

My concern is passing the header tones intact so they can be decoded. Any recommended bit rate?

EAS over Barix

I'm looking at the possibility of remotely locating the receiver for one of my EAS monitoring assignments. Of course the least expensive way to bring it back to the station is using Barix over the Internet.

Comments?
thanks,
John

Re: Barix levels

I've contacted their tech support and after I get it figured out I'll post it.

I'm still interested to know if anybody else has run tones through their units and measured the levels.

Re: Barix levels

I complete understand about the noise floor and headroom issues.
Call me picky but I really want to know why the "comes-outta" is 1/3 lower than the "goes-inta"

Re: Barix levels

I already had the Instreamer 100's

What is your experience with the Exstreamer putting out the same level you put in the Instreamer?

Barix levels

I have some older Barix Instreamer 100's. I'm using them to build a backup STL. I have Henry Engineering Matchboxes on either side to handle the +4 dbm conversion to RCA jack -10 dbV that the Barix provides. I set the first Matchbox to take +4 in (1.23 v), and put -10dbV (315mV) out and plug that in...

Re: FM radio with excellent selectivity needed

Very well.
RPT-2 transmitting with rubber ducky, Sangean sitting on the desk next to it, no desense.

Just what the doctor ordered.
