Re: Radio Netherlands

PO Box 222, Hilversum!
When I was a few years beyond third grade, they were on 800 Khz mediumwave from Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles.
They covered the confederacy very well at night, and they were my favorite international programmer.

Re: Dream DRM software "receiver"

Here is the solution to using DRM on your AM station and without losing your analog listeners: Do it with one of the many many AMs whose listeners are all listening to the station's 250w FM translators on TV towers. The DRM transmitter, if the AM day and night signals are acceptable at the translato...

Re: WYFR Still here and barely kicking !!!!!!!

Nice article, except I would make one correction, that we are now allowed to venture down into the tropical bands. I visited the station while they were still in the process of relocating some transmitters from Scituate. One antenna caught both my eyes, a forty-nine meter something-or-other beam wit...

Re: Confused about HD signal strengths

Why or when would one use the Extended Hybrid mode?
Does it put more power into the HD 1 & 2 by taking it from the 3 & 4?

Re: HD-1 Processing

What it seems to come down to is that the best sounding streams will be the HD2's on stations that only run a main and a 2. We have some great sounding 2's where I live, at least compared with standard FM, although I love to hear a station (second school of thought) pop from analog into brilliant HD...

HD-1 Processing

Two schools of thought on this. Set the HD-1 to perfectly match the analog in every way or set it to match the analog in time, and peak volume. We hate to hear a station fade between analog and HD with no improvement: the same roll off to 15 KHz and the same heavy processing even though there is no ...

Re: Noisy AM reception at studio.

We assume you are using 100% shielded cable.
Why run RF down the line?
Why not place a receiver at the antenna and run audio back down?

Re: Confused about HD signal strengths

This is precisely what the CE at the station told me, that the HD3 suffers much more from the main carrier than the HD1 or 2 would.

Re: Considering putting AM HD back online thoughts?

If you own an FM in your market, you might do much better by putting your AM on an HD2 or 3 or 4.
A 1 Kw AM station in Miami did that and now pigybacks on a C1 FM.

Please fix the HD-1!

We have experienced the following on stations, usually right after a major change is made such as returning to HD service or adding an HD2 or 3. It goes on for a few days or weeks until the engineer in charge figures out that something is wrong and probably gets on the horn with the manufacturer. Ou...

Re: TV and FM IF spacing

Thanks everyone, this says it all: "In addition to these separations, applicants or petitioners for Channel 253 (98.5 MHz) must also meet the I.F. spacing with respect to TV Channel 6 stations." My next question would have been about channels 201, 223, and 231 (as, many radios can easily be fixed to...
