Re: OMNIA.7AM

Do you use this on AM? What controls the NRSC curve or the asymmetry? Whats the final limiter/clipper?

Re: OMNIA.7AM

I have some experience with the AM Omnia but not the newest one. I use the 9400 at two location one is HD the other is not. Both are sports so you have the spoken word and the phone calls. Adjusting processing usually takes 2 or more days of adjustment, looking at modulation and listening on at leas...

Re: You need this

Obvious question is will one of these outlets make my Omnia or Optimod sound better/louder? Maybe get outlets for the whole air chain? Is there a ratings increase if you use one of these outlets on a Voltair?

I have a small torch for locks too. However there are two lock boxes with plastic parts. Whats a good all metal lock box that does not leak and can be looped on a gate or fence.

Re: Broadcasting Yearbook, 1935-2010

I wonder if this website has some of the same principles of a Black Hole. Not in a Bad way but the website does draw you in and I always loose track of time. Like time does not exist. Sometimes I feel as if I'm transported back in time. Usually I come away happily dazed with no sense of time when I ...

Re: Contactors!

Most important, Heated Leather Seats for those early morning calls. This year in the Puget Sound we had a little Snow. To play it safe I parked about 15 feet from the building at the KJR-am site and walked the last few feet in the...eight inches of snow. If I get stuck at the transmitter site in the...

Re: Emergency communication

If I'm at the KIRO transmitter and Jim drives by sometimes he will call me on the ham radio which is usually on at the transmitter and listening to the local Vashon repeater. We usueally talk about What we are doing, going to coffee, sometimes the conversation will turn to a specific Item like don't...

Re: NPR Story Says Towers Kill Birds

When I do find a dead bird at one of the transmitter sites, it's at the base of a power pole where they got between the insulator and ground. Never at the base of a tower or any where near it. Had 5 or 6 crows take out all three fuse holders on a pole. All the crows were on the ground at the base of...

Re: Barix levels

I use a pair of Deva Broadcast B90RX units running PCM on a Ubiquiti WIFI link. The Deva seemed to have better buffering on PCM than a Barix combo. It also has AAC. Levels are alot like the instreamer/extreamer combo and I use a match box on the receive end for level adjustment.

Best LPFM antenna

Looking to get a backup antenna for an LPFM. Their current antenna throws fits when it snows or is accumulating ice/snow. Who makes a good LPFM antenna that handles ice/snow well. With or without radomes. This LPFM is on an Island so pretty much at sea level which is why they felt OK with a one bay ...

Re: AMPro Microtouch Console

I bought a mono eight channel version for my console collection. The console pretty much works, and next to a 50KW transmitter! I always wondered as a kid when it came out if it would work at the 50KW site my dad looked after on weekends. Years latter I'm able to say it does does work, touch sensor ...

Re: IBOC or MDCL

I did get the NX50 transmitter set up for MDCL with IBOC. Was very easy to do with the latest firmware update. Just waiting to see the effect on the power bill. I also helped an Iheart station install MDCL on their Harris rig. They use a closed air conditioned room for the transmitter so not only ar...

Re: Tower site grass control - will goats eat ground radials ?

I have three 50KW sites with 2 towers at one and three at the other two. I use Ortho ground clear for the tower guy anchors that are fenced and tower bases for all. The two tower site once had cows in the field and originally they guy anchors were not fenced and the cows would rub on the guy wires. ...

Emergency communication

During the Cascadia Rising emergency drill in the Pacific Northwest I realized I needed to get my Ham license for emergency communication needs. I maintain 6 transmitter sites in my area and one is an EAS primary. During a walk through on scenarios, it quickly became obvious that I should have a bas...
