Re: Wanna Play "Guess What's in the Grey Box?"

A box was in the budget at least. Why not use the Endec in/out audio connections if that is what it is?

Re: Bleed over

Look for a broken or loose ground strap(s) around the combiner and tower - it acts like a bad load on the transmitters and things are getting eat up with RF. This can be verified with the transmitters off and listening to the STL receiver and processor audio outputs - if they are clean then that may...

Re: EAS Antenna Issue

Translators and EAS monitoring are quickly becoming mutually exclusive.

Don't bother unless your house is wired with oxygen-free Romex. And never mind the miles and miles of "ordinary" conductor between your house and the power plant.
They also offer this to get around that:

Re: EAS Issue

On a similar note - After NC installed the Comlabs satellite delivery system for the LP stations, the Sage boxes would not decode the tones coming from the Comlabs computer sound card (the other manufacturers' units worked as I recall). Recording the tones into Adobe Audition and blowing up the wave...

It might be a Signetics IC.

Here's some pictures of the 12' DH antenna - I've put two together and have one to go.

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

I posted this image awhile back - it's a sweep of the entire range of transponders on AMC-18 that has the providers' carriers (LNB output). If your polarization is close to where it should be, then you should be able to match this up and you will be on the correct satellite.

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

I have moved two 12-ft Comtechs with no issues. I use a plastic protractor with a string and weight to set the elevation from Dishpointer and then while watching the SA, swing the antenna until the correct satellite signature shows up. I helps to adjust the skew first using the old and new satellite...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

FYI - Moved an old Harris white antenna over to AMC-18. Before the move the EbNo on the Wegener iPump was 12.0 and on the XDS it was 11.5. After the move it is 10.5 on the Wegener and 7.9 on the XDS (jumps around a little). Getting the polarization optimized is a PTIA since the screws holes in the s...

Here's a screenshot of the transponders that have the providers on AMC-18 (full sweep of LNB output).

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

That may not hack it - only 9.1 feet in diameter. But you can try - just mark it so you can go back to where it is. The LNB polarization has to be adjusted a few degrees also.

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

We moved a 10 foot Prodelin fiberglas antenna to AMC-18 (a backup to our Comtech). The signal was a little less on it but all the receivers locked on and had EbNo's around 9 - 10. Alignment was very touchy - one little squeak either way and you are getting the next satellite over so it may not work ...
