Re: Audio loudness

Lots of products out there, Linear Acoustic, Tektronix, Leader, Marshall Electronics and Dolby. The dolby LM-100 is a good solid product for just leaving in the rack and watching levels and dialnorm from AC-3 devices like mepeg encoders. I use a Grid connect RS232 to IP converter to run the unit rem...

Re: Mike lights for a board that doesn't have them...

I used to run a Mackie D8B in a TV studio. To get on air tally lamps we used a midi solutions R8 http://www.midisolutions.com/prodr8.htm We programmed the correct sysex commands to the R8 so the faders looked like "note on note off" from a synthisiser. It ran 24-7 for 12 years until the station was ...

Avatar for Virtual Engineer

I recently added an Avatar to my virtual engineer profile. I wanted to use a pic of one of my favorite transmitter meltdowns. I was able to create an 80x80 image resize under 10k with ease from my mobile device with this free site http://www.picresize.com/ didn't cost a thing, no sign ups and never ...

UPDATE Tandberg TT1280 BRICK mode

Well, using the right arrow key or even the edit button at power up did not solve my issue. NOTE: windows firewall WAS on when I tried to update firmware and I believe that is what did me in. I used "DOWNLOAD" (the default for 0 bank) and had no luck. I thought since maybe it was the active memory t...

Re: Tandberg TT1280 BRICK mode

Son of a gun! YES windows firewall was on, I got the pop up warning and told firewall to let it go by but sounds like it was too late. I thought it was hold the EDIT key, I will try the right arrow Monday and see if the unit responds. These are great work horses and as a MPEG 2 decoder for a BAS sit...

ATSC TS Reader

Anyone using TS Reader? http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/ I have found very good results with a Pinnacle 800e thumb drive sized ATSC tuner and the free lite version of this software. Now, this does not replace my DekTec / Sencore portable stream scope by any means BUT is a cheap way to see the "guts"...

Re: Broadcast quality dashcams?

We have been using a cheap Marshall lipstick camera for "Mobile Action Cams". The unit can output an HD as well as a CVBS signal at the same time. This is nice for existing installs where you are upgrading to HD. Only complaint is the little dongle isn't quite long enough to hide nicely in a vehicle...

Tandberg TT1280 BRICK mode

I recently tried to update a TT1280 from firmware 2.4.12 to 2.4.13. I used the provided batch file and the upload appears to have been sent to the unit. Following the instructions, I rebooted the unit as prescribed. Sadly, on power up, the EDIT and SAVE lights now blink like a railroad crossing and ...
