Broadcast Tools SS8.2 Power Supply

Hi all, Has anyone found a reasonably priced replacement for the old original SS8.2 (and other) switcher AC power supply? They need 34.5vac/500ma center tapped and 10.5vac/1a. Notice that the PS output is AC. I have a number of working switchers laying that I would like to use on a low budget projec...

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

Make sure that the bluetooth is 2-way. One of my clients looked at one of the early, cheap consoles with BT connectivity and just before ordering found that the BT was incoming to console only. I have seen others recently that mentioned using it to broadcast phone calls so that may not be a problem ...

Re: Arrakis Console issue

I concur with davek. I recall that those consoles are DC coupled from one end to the other. Or there is something wonky going on with the VCA. Or yet another of those little tantalum caps has shorted... I only have 2 old Arrakis consoles and one new Arc in use. I begged the customer not to buy the A...

Re: Sine Remote Control

It's the same commands as the phone codes, but the unit has to have the serial port and the correct firmware version. I'll post the details once I get to the office today. You can do it with a simple terminal program. There actually was a software (DOS IIRC) that would aid in programming the RFC1b ...

Re: Low resource SDR Software

They are definitely not super duper Flex or TenTec receivers but does everything that I need for remote monitoring and this sort of interesting projects. And they cost $169 bucks. One of the best things that I did was add common mode chokes on the USB and coax cables at both ends. I had a box of #43...

Re: Low resource SDR Software

Both of mine are SDRPlay RSP2. One is the plastic cased model and the other is the metal cased "Pro" model. I typically keep one of them here at the shop so that I can check clients and listen to our SkyWarn net when I am traveling. I like them because they have 3 software selectable antenna inputs....

Re: Bleed over

And since these are Gates1 transmitters, check the +/-60khz spurs. If the transmitters are over 6 or 7 years old, they may be suffering Blue Cap of Death symptoms... Now you could have 6 carriers to filter rather than 2.

Re: Low resource SDR Software

I am recording to the internal HD. I tried various USB mem sticks and USB HD's on my i5 laptop and as expected, USB2 isn't up to the speed requirements. A good USB3 drive worked part of the time and then would cause HDSDR to lockup after an hour or so. I cleared enough space on my good laptop to sto...

Re: Splitting coverage into markets

I think that all of my clients are using Modulation Science SideKicks which do appear to be gone from the new market. If you want to talk to Lyle about the FMExtra, hit me with a DM and I will get his email to you. I was mistaken about the control via FMExtra. It does not transport closures but will...

Re: Low resource SDR Software

Clinton, I am using HDSDR already. And it does appear to be the lightest of the popular packages. I actually like the software (SDRUno) that SDRPlay gives away with the receiver but it's IQ record is buggy. SDRUno is an OEM version of Studio1. I have a unit similar to what you have but also have a c...

Re: Splitting coverage into markets

DTMF would probably be best but there is also 25/35hz or other subaudable tones on the main audio channel. As someone posted previously, subcarrier encoder/decoders are pretty common in the US. You might also look at FMExtra. I recall reading somewhere that it had some from of remote control functio...

Re: Splitting coverage into markets

Here is a hardware solution. It decodes DTMF itself and specifically mentions commercial insertion in it's propaganda sheet. DEVA Broadcast DB8000 Silence Monitor with MP3 and IP Audio Backup Players BSW PART: DB8000 I thought that Henry Engineering had a box that would switch audio and play a playl...

Low resource SDR Software

Although not exactly AM hardware related.... Anybody know of a low resource SDR software that runs in Winders? I am setting up an SDR to record the AM band during the eclipse and my secondary laptop is a dual core Atom Netbook. It runs SDRUNO and HDSDR fine but stutters when trying to record that wi...

Re: Dead Harris - X1000B Suggestion

I have been on different sites doing other work when 2ea X1000's blew up the first time they were turned on. I had originally thought that they were a good alternative but quickly learned that was not the case. Thankfully, none of my regular clients succumbed and bought one. I actually think that I ...
