A "guy trying to be honest" would not let the AM sit around on a 10 watt STA for a year.
Amen... Or 7yrs.

With that said, some of the largest owners in the world have been known to do the perpetual STA thing until they got one of "those" letters from the FCC.

Re: Why does the same radio station go from clear to staticky on two different frequencies in a 2 square mile area

You very well may be listening to a state public radio or NPR network. Also many unrelated non-comm stations run NPR programming elements live.. Here at my shop, I can often hear a number of geography widely spaced stations in the non-comm band running identical programming. Just last week I was at ...

Re: Revitalized AM Translators

1) I needed to re-read this: That CP condition only applies if the AM station is operating with "reduced facilities" and is only on the newly-minted Auction 99 facilities which are forever married to the AM. ( My emphasis added ) and 2) of course, it’s a math calculation (computing the 2mV/m reduce...

Re: Harris CD Link

Glad to help, I would definitely have a new one on the shelf at least. They are about $140 from various suppliers. Cheaper copies are available. I think that I gave abt $89 for a couple unbranded but physically identical supplies (might be OEM or might be knockoff) from ebay. They have both been ins...

Well ain't that something. I had saw that before but thought that it was something to do with satellite switching. It doesn't appear to do scheduled stuff but very cool.

Re: Software to control Broadcast Tools 8x2 Audio Switcher

Is this a serial switcher? Some of the old, old switchers used a closure to activate/deactivate channels to output. Are you using automation? I don't know of anything specifically written for the BT 8.2 but any app what will send text to a com port will do it. I have done something similar using a t...

The big improvement came when a customer suffered severe damage in his FM-20G. He did some "on site mods" to get back on the air and noticed the efficiency was drastically different. It had gone waaaay up.
So what was the snake-oil that he found?

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

I just talked to my radio client with an associated Ch39 LPTV. He advised that they had in fact been notified to vacate 39 and a couple of weeks ago had moved to Ch34 on an STA. They are contemplating whether it was worthwhile to spend several thousand dollars to replace their narrow band antenna an...

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

Well Verizon is headed in a different direction. They did not bid on any 600 MHz spectrum. They are focusing on smaller and smaller cells to offer more speed. Problem there is no ROI on these cells out in the country. Supposedly TMobile is doing the opposite and are taking advantage of 600 MHz rang...

Re: Blue tooth mixer and high school games

For what its worth, keep an eye on Tmobile. They are agressively rolling out their newly acquired 600 MHz spectrum. While this doesn’t solve the current problems, they are focusing on more rural areas since the repack hasn’t happened. Once they light up service, a new phone will be required since n...

Re: RF Spectrum Analyzer

Based on that review I decided to get one to replace my trusty but 24 year old IFR A-7550, which has served me well but really is out of date, technology-wise. This unit cost less than half of what the IFR did back then, too. It'll be nice to have an up to date spec an which can run on DC and doesn...
