Re: 6 KW Transmitter Ballpark price

A couple of additional comments on this: 1. Although Anabolic requested a 6kW transmitter, the specific TPO wasn't provided - that and any future HD radio compatibility could make a difference, one way or the other... 2. Also not provided was geographic location - this group has members from all ove...

Re: You need this

He did something similar in Madison at the WBA Engineering Conference a half dozen or so years ago... it turned out, to the complete subjective, non-blind listening audience, barbed wire was a better audio cable than Monster anything. :D

Re: Static Dissipators?

I don't think they do a lot to prevent lightning strikes... there's a lot more physics involved there than a wire brush can solve. Where I do think they are very useful is to bleed off charge as the tower ionizes, minimizing the arcing across guy wire insulators and spark balls - intentional corona....

Re: Nautel NV10LT

I just installed a new NV LT 7.5 rig,...I am trying to get control of the presets with a remote control unit. By taking the Preset 1 or 2 to ground via the JA plug on the back of the controller the transmitter does not change power levels. Am I missing something here? Thanks. Rich, give me a holler...

Re: Nautel NV10LT

.. is there any service information available for the old Tectrol power supplies used in the NV series? From us, no - it was part of the agreement with the former Tectrol that service information wasn't part of the deal. I assume they didn't want us to start building them ourselves! However, CUI (c...

Re: INTERNATIONAL CRYSTAL MFG

Where will you go to get crystals now? Is Northern still around? We'd used them in the past here and there when International couldn't deliver in time. It's been well over 10 years since I've been sitting in that part of the facility, though, so no idea if they still exist or not. If not, it'll be ...

Re: Nautel NV10LT

I've said it before...you folks need some kind of 'frequent user number' I'm thinking "Shibboleet" - but wait, that's been done... http://xkcd.com/806/ . I do get your point, though - back when it was just me, it was easier, because I spoke to everybody, so I was able to learn who knew how much (or...

Re: Nautel NV10LT

They've also had a bunch of power supply failures on the GV series boxes and since that part is shared with the NVs expect trouble. Tech support has been hit and miss. I get tired of arguing with their end when I need parts and they want to start at "is it plugged in?" I'm not familiar with ...

Re: Gates Air Flex20 vs. Nautel NV20lt

Update: Nautel shipped my client a new VS2.5 and it was installed last night by the local staff with no drama at all. Up and running great and we will see if it stays that way - my bet is that it will be trouble free for years to come. ...Lee If it doesn't, call me. I'll make it a point to swing by...

Re: Nautel RDS

We also use ArcticPalm - and we can get our data out with the internal RDS - but agreed, would LOVE to see the adaptation of dynamic PS. I'm sure you guys are working on it. Not to kick the dead horse, but if anybody isn't on our mailing list, the update with scrolling 64 char PS was released last ...

Re: Surge protection?

I have a feeling that the lightning sets up an inductive pulse that travels through the buried 100ft electrical line from the building to the gate mechanism. Could be - remember that surge protectors (MOV or SAD) are bidirectional... most power supply failures have more to do with lightning energy ...

Re: Nautel RDS

I would really love to know how to get Station Playlist automation software's RDS output to play nice with a Nautel VS300. Not familiar with that, but if it can send a TEXT="" ASCII file, you should have everything you need - just point its IP address field to the transmitter's IP address, port 707...

Re: Harris SX-5 blows wall breaker.

Several of their transmitters now steadfastly refuse to come on if the temp in the room dips below freezing due to the third-party computers they use going stupid. Below freezing being less than zero degrees Celsius - the bottom end of the operating temperature range for everything we've built for ...

Re: Nautel RDS

Hey Jeff, Any update on those RDS doc improvements? I have 9 Nautel TXs that I need to interface to and so far all i can do is send RT and 8 Character PS strings. I was told by someone in support that it was a subset install of the Inovonics package. Is this correct? Depends on the transmitter vers...

Re: IBOC or MDCL

Why would run IBOC at all unless you want to increase Ibiquity's coffers?
Not my job to decide if something "should" be done... my job is just to figure how how it "can" be done and to help folks that want to do it. :)
