Re: BW Broadcast transmitter

Kevin

The thing with Nautel is the additional features if you need them. Buying a cheaper TX and then adding other boxes for the missing features is just false economy. My experience with BW is that they are not totally honest and talk down to the customers as though they assume we are all morons.

Re: High Pitched Tone in FM Audio?

As previously stated, look for power supply oscillations.

Re: STL dropouts....back today

Get off 950 and move to 6 or 11 gig.

Re: Wheatnet vs AXIA

Dante is now compatible with AES 67 and Ravenna. What this means is that most equipment should talk to other equipment. I think you should look at this from a different perspective. First, there are a lot more systems available that do AOIP than just Axia and Wheatnet. SAS and Lawo also support AOIP...

Re: High Pitched Tone in FM Audio?

Start with the basics first. I had this exact problem years ago on an analog unit. Turns out a three terminal regulator was oscilating due to a failed bypass cap. Check all the various power rails first with a scope and look for oscillation.

Re: Starlink LAN

I don't see any point in putting good serious money in 900/950 anything. Yesterday's marginal technology.

Re: Barix levels

Remember Barix is intended for LAN use, not over a jittery WAN I know some people like them because they are cheap but there are better solutions for only slightly more money. The Worldcast APT Silver Stream comes to mind. It is best suited for use over jittery paths because it sends redundant strea...

Re: Starlink LAN

You will get much better results for less cost and effort by going to a higher frequency. 5.8 gig unlicensed or if licensed, 6 or 11 gig. You can easily get 50 to 100 gig throughput. The unlicensed stuff is a few hundred dollars. There is no point in putting good money into 950 Meg gear.

Re: Translator Receive Signal Booster

Addressing the original question, i think some analysis is necessary. 150 feet of RG-8 has less than 2 db loss and what is important is signal to noise ratio and not necessarily signal level. The first thing I would want to know is how much signal there is. A better solution might be a better receiv...

I'll second the ERI 100A. You get what you pay for.

Re: Quote Review

$50,000 of engineering 2 rooms with AOIP is pretty steep but I get the feeling there is some missing info. How complex are these rooms?

I figured you were either doing SDR, had a spec an or possibly just guessing. That station should really kill the MPX and take better advantage of mono.

Re: Receive antenna height for translator

VS300 is an excellent value when you take advantage of the built in features and still a great TX when you don't.

BTW I have a Sony I could be convinced to sell for too much money.

Re: Receive antenna height for translator

Well let me just point out. I have had a project I was associated with over 45 years ago and not totally under my control come back to haunt me as recently as last year. The favor you do for some cheapskate owner today may be a black mark on your resume forever. I only do best practices. You'll neve...
