Re: Sparta AS-30B audio console

I might be able to help you with that. I have an old Sparta sitting in the basement. Not sure the model, but i will check the next time i am there. If that does not work out, I may have a supply that will work. What voltages and current do you need? I found a few old supplies in cleaning out a forme...

Re: Web Server

Thanks for all of your suggestions and offers of assistance. I might just take you up on that. This will be a winter project for me. I have a number of irons in the fire right now and as soon as I get those projects wrapped up, this will be a fun project to do when it is too cold to go outside. Adam...

Re: These two slept through TV Remote Broadcast 101

With some vehicles, locking out the engine is rather difficult. Back when I was working at the Clear Channel cluster in Nashville, we had 3 ex moving truck type vehicles outfitted with masts. All of them had a huge red light like you might find as a side marker light on a trailer mounted directly un...

Re: Web Server

As to the SLA, I don't recall the wording off the top of my head, but it is at least as strong as the T1 providor we are currently using. This is their Business Ethernet service and is 100% fiber back to the net POP. (or whatever they call the point where they exchange the traffic with other provide...

Re: Web Server

We did away with the cable modems nearly 5 years ago. Have been running the entire building on a single T1 ever since. It was tolerable until we added streaming and Marketron into the mix. Now it can feel like you are back on dialup at times.

Web Server

Comcast is coming tomorrow to finish our fiber link to the internet, and I got to thinking of ways to use this new "excess" bandwidth. I happen to be talking with a couple of other engineers in the company (It's budget season.) and one suggested a web portal of sorts. I like the idea. We could use i...

Re: Wireless Headphones

We have had several jocks that bought the Sennheisers with good result. One guy that had them was a smoker and he would wear them when he went out for a smoke break and got reception from out in the parking lot.

Re: 160M from an abandoned AM tower

We had our event yesterday and the results were not quite what we expected. The tower just would not load up on 160 worth a darn. My MFJ 989C tuner just could not find a match, but the built in tuner in my Kenwood TS2000 did after a much longer that normal tuning cycle. But the noise floor was up in...

Re: 160M from an abandoned AM tower

Thanks for confirming what I thought about the field from WBIG being to strong. If anyone would like to come by, I'll be there this Sunday from about 10a on to see what we can make happen. Daytime is not the best time to try to work 160, I know, but then why not try it as a 1/2 wave on 75/80, or a f...

160M from an abandoned AM tower

Since the shutdown of WKKD I have been wanting to try 160M off of the 150' towers. Today I took a piece of coax that had the outer braid peeled back about 10" and connected the inner to the former feed tube from the ATU (the ATU's have been sold off and just a stub of the original feed remains.) and...
