New feature!

Post by BroadcastDoc » Thu Mar 17, 2011 5:58 am

Hey all!

We've added support for two different mobile platforms, Tapatalk and Forum Runner. The will allow you to browse the forums using an Android or iPhone as well as give you push notifications of PM's and messages, etc.

For those interested, the software costs a couple of bucks - you can get it here:

Those who do not remember Usenet are condemned to reinvent it. Poorly.

I've added support for Tapatalk for those who are interested. Tapatalk is a piece of software that formats message boards in a nice interface for smartphones. You can use one app to browse multiple forums that support it.

For those interested, the software costs a couple of bucks - you can get it here:

Are we just doing Taptalk or do we have this one enabled too?

(For historical accuracy's sake, let me note that I misquoted Henry; while he was quite a notable figure in the early days of Usenet, and responsible for Google having something like 80% of the pre-1990 postings, from magtape archives made at UTZoo, his original quote was actually about Unix, not Usenet. Still true, though.)

After playing with both Tapatalk and Forum Runner, I kind of like Forum Runner better. I'll do some more testing though...

Yeah. Both are pretty much only a couple bucks. I might pick up Forum Runner, too. It seems like Tapatalk is becoming THE standard though. Forum Runner didn't seem to have a lot of support other than us.

Well the latest Tapatalk update that came today pretty well brought it up to par with Forum Runner. I'll leave them both running for now unless it starts to cause problems.

Spoke too soon. The Tapatalk update doesn't seem to be playing well with this version of SQL. I recommend NOT using it until the bugs are worked out!

On my Android. It's throwing a bunch of errors (if you check their site it seems to be a common problem with their latest version).

They've issued an update this morning that seems to have fixed the problem. All is well again.

Heh. I must have gotten a version before they'd updated to the buggy one.
