Welcome new members

Post by NECRAT » Fri Feb 21, 2014 10:36 pm

Over the past few months, we have seen this site just explode in both popularity and membership. So I decided to create a welcome message to all of you who have joined us here at The Virtual Engineer. This is my personal welcome to you...

Welcome to The Virtual Engineer.

To give you a background of who we are here, let me put it out this way.

We are engineers.

We're a mix of well seasoned engineers, and new engineers.
We have radio engineers, TV engineers, Satellite engineers,
RF engineers, studio engineers, sales engineers, engineers from
all corners of the globe!

Folks who've done that 6 hour shift on little or no sleep due to an emergency.
Folks who know that in so many cases, the job is the #1 priority in our lives.
Folks who have made stations go back on the air using techniques only seen on Macguyver.
Folks who've made those crazy requests "happen" on time, every time.
Folks who make the stations, make the money.

Think of it this way, every single radio and TV station in this country, is on the air
thanks to several engineers. And that's who we are here. We are several engineers in one place.

So come, ask questions, give input, make mistakes, learn a lot, have fun with it, and share
with your fellow techs who are in the same crazy game as you, because, like you,
they wouldn't have it any other way, either.

Mike,

Would this be the place to ask a question regarding the user interface?

When I am logged in, the "view new posts" link is quite handy; I like how I can quickly keep up the latest activity in all sections.

My question is what defines them as "new". Is this configurable, such has how many days this goes back?

Also, when I am not logged in -- such as when I making a quick check-in on a smartphone or other PC -- how do I configure a link (search shortcut) to just show me all posts over the last few days?

Hope this these questions make sense. Thanks for your work on this board.

This "View new posts" will show all your posts since your last visit.
