General Manager: Why do you need this gear for a "mix minus"

Post by CHNW » Sat Oct 12, 2013 12:52 pm

GM: "Why are you spending money on gear to create a 'mix minus'? Do you really need this?! Can't the jock's just ignore their own voice coming back like they do in headphones at the studio?!"
BE: "..."

Had him try speak to me using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... eechjammer or https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speech- ... 26372?mt=8

This app takes your voice, delays and distorts it slightly, then plays it back into your headphones. I tried it after watching a few friends trying it..The first thing that came to mind was "this is just an example of a station not using mix minus". Basically, I had him give it a first-hand try and a few mins later the credit card came out...

Nothing beats a good example...

Better yet, explain why you need two separate mix minus feeds to two separate headset/phone send feeds when they use a remote guest line in. PR&E boards come with this as an option, some of the small boards may also have two separate phone inputs with the logic for a separate feed to each phone line. Also handy when using a remote Comrex/Tieline feed or even Skype. Explaining how to use it if it is a lash up would cost extra.
