Based on the detail available by enlarging this rather small picture...it's a small electric boiler of some sort. That is based on the square double gauge which should show temperature and pressure, plus some of the plumbing. I suspect it is connected to the hot water baseboard heat directly to the left.

On the basis of information available through the extension of this little place. A small electric boiler is based on the square of the caliber, which should allow the temperature and pressure, plus some of the pipes. I think that is connected to hot water baseboard heat directly to the left.
