WHP-TV Remote Truck loses it's mast

The local CBS affiliate had it's mast pop out of the truck and fall while tuning in for a remote. Apparently, the mast itself is not really damaged, just the hardware at the top. Cabling and everythign else is fine. Now work on whether or not they are going to try to repair it or not. From what I understand, they had budgeted to replace a live truck this year, but not this particular truck.

Very interesting. Did the pressure switch fail to trip while the photog had the mast up switch jammed on?

Rebuilding masts is one of my favorite tasks, yes-sir-eee. :?

I have no idea what exactly caused the failure, and have not had a chance to inquire further yet. I need to get on my contact at that station to find out for me - assuming they even bothered to figure out what was the cause of the problem.
