IPAWS outage?

Post by w9wi » Tue Nov 21, 2017 9:05 am

Did anyone else get notification of IPAWS going offline between 21:42 (CT) last night and 07:51 this morning?

I've since heard from both Wisconsin and Alabama that IPAWS did in fact go down last night & come back up this morning.

Yep...server problem at the mother ship. Glad nothing bad happened during that time. :roll:

Server crashed. It is unfathomable that a single server could:

A. Crash and take the national alert system down with it;

and

B: Crash and stay down for 11hrs with no one knowing it.

I surmised that it was a Win10 Home computer and it installed forced updates and tried to reboot. I could be wrong.

It's the US government. The machine is probably a Windows 98 machine, that someone opened an extra window on and bogged it down.

We've been having intermittent connection problems to IPAWS up here in Central Wisconsin for 3 days. Saturday was the worst. More than one station, different cities and different ISP's.
