The line below the closure notice is fairly ironic considering the news.... ICM is a proud supplier to Radio Shack.

Gotta wonder if one is connected to the other. They would be losing a very large customer.

I should know this since I am just across Big Muddy from them but does anyone know if Petersen is still operating in Council Bluffs? Last time I was in their neighborhood it didn't look like there was any going concern. But they could have moved.

I guess a little reconnaissance is in order.

I am planning on calling ICM Monday. I have just acquired a very nice GE MastrII currently on something like 49.3mhz that I am going to convert to 6m. I am hoping to get the channel elements recrystaled before they close up.

It appears they have moved across town:

http://www.macraesbluebook.com/search/c ... any=325628

If the link doesn't work it says 25 Lawndale Dr., CB,IA 51503. Tel: 712-323-7539

However, Google Maps's satellite view shows this to be a residential area, suggesting a more limited operation. But at least they turned up somewhere.

I've been using them for rocks for Belar RF amps. Guess I'm going to have to find a "plan b" now.

Considering how crudely the ICM web page looks, I almost get the feeling it's fake and has been spammed.

But it is an interesting coincidence that RadioShack's parent company also declared bankruptcy a few days earlier.

I too want to get some Crystals for a 10M base station. At one point they were affordable, then ICM's prices went through the roof if you wanted temperature-compensation done. At the beginning of 2017 their only employee who knew how to do temp comp left the company so they no longer offer that service. At least there are outboard crystal heaters that can be added for about half the price of ICM's temp comp. But neither does much good if you can't buy crystals any more.

Maybe Scotty can replicate a few. If he can get the Dilithium to stabilize for more than a few nano-seconds.
I heard Spock was hoarding a couple dozen, but that was just a drunken rumor.

Is Northern still around? We'd used them in the past here and there when International couldn't deliver in time. It's been well over 10 years since I've been sitting in that part of the facility, though, so no idea if they still exist or not. If not, it'll be an interesting challenge - all of the crystals in all of our nav beacons, telegraph transmitters and AM transmitters going back to 1980 were International Crystal. At least up until around 2000 or so when almost everything we built was switched over to synthesizers for RF generation.

Jeff:

To the best of my knowledge, Northern Engineering Labs formerly in Burlington, WI is no longer in business having no contact info for a number of years.

As for additional information on the crystal front, one of my buddies just ordered several crystals from ICM. He was told that they are working with a company in Canada that will be manufacturing their products, and at this time that company is running fast trying to get up to full speed.

We should be seeing something officially about this in the near future. I'll try to keep on top of this development.........as soon as I dig myself outta this "Lake Effect" dump we got that started Sunday and ended at 1pm today. Now all we got to deal with is the blasted wind blowing that white crap all over the roads, and back onto m driveway! Twice in two days the snow plow physically dumped on ma as I was clearing the end of my driveway.....and he was laughing both times!

You got ma to clear the driveway, and you're complaining?
