Mems Clarke 120-E FIM Calibration?

Post by undex » Fri May 08, 2009 11:31 am

Anyone know a test/cal facility performing calibration certifications for the 120-E?
Potomac wants to sell their new 4100 and will not even look at my WX unit.

Any thoughts?

Give this company a call - INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION SERVICES - 800-826-3759. I know for sure they will do the Potomac FIM series, but I don't know about the NC.

You can also google them and that will get you to their web site for more detailed info.

The one time I had experience with them, they were very fast on the turn-around and less costly that Potomac.

Don't bother with Potomac. They won't even work on their own stuff anymore and use the call as an opportunity to sell you a wildly overpriced new box. Because of this I generally avoid all of their stuff now wherever possible.

The company Bob listed is a good bet. If they are in the biz they've seen those 120-E's before.

Oh, and welcome to the club!

Anybody actually get the *NEW* box? Know of at least one station that canceled their order after waiting nearly a year and it was never shipped.

Re: NEW POTOMAC FIELD METER

I have only had a very brief field intro to the meter. While it seems quite capable and has some very nice features, I really hesitate at the $14,000.00, or thereabouts price tag. Ufdah!

With that said, looking at the scene from a manufacturing point of view, how many can you sell? What are development costs, materials cost, burden, etc, and how many do you have to sell to just break even???

I don't know any engineer who has bought one, nor seen one in the wild.

Mark:

Contact Andy Weiss at Radio Disney in Chicago, he has one. That's where I ran into one. I work at Disney in Milwaukee market.

I do stuff with Andy all the time...that six tower array is one of my monsters. I'll have to take a look next time I'm in Alsip.

OK, I am impressed with the 4100. It really works good!
Getting to know one. CBR 1010 just peaked at 5 mV/m.
