Tugicom TX180A Exciter Experiences?

Post by Chris Arnesen » Tue Nov 24, 2015 11:27 am

I was curious if anyone had any experience with the Tugicom TX180A exciter?

I'm wanting to do some "learning-by-experimenting" and I've been having trouble finding a decent FM transmitter for a low price that supports MPX input. I keep thinking though for the price I should probably continue to watch eBay to see if a used BW Broadcast TX1 comes up...

My plan is to use the free version of Stereo Tool with a Marian Trace Alpha sound card to generate my MPX output and then output the exciter to a small dummy load.

I think then the only other thing I need is a way to measure the MPX injection level. Stereo Tool recommends using the P175 FM Broadcast Analyzer from Pira.cz, but I don't have any experience doing this either. :?
Sincerely,
Chris Arnesen, CBNT, CRO
