Energy Onix manual

Post by davidkcrt92501240 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 2:57 pm

I recently purchased off of eBay a 1000 W energy onyx power amplifier. Unfortunately it does not have the user manual. Does anyone have a copy I can get?

The model is SSA-1000. It was probably manufactured in the 1990's.

Thank you!

Be aware that even if you find a manual it will likely not completely match your box. Bernie had a bad habit of making frequent changes in his transmitters without updating the prints and parts lists.

We had a Bernie box (1kW Solid State), by the time we dumped it on some poor unsuspecting sucker sold it, the transmitter and manual matched in name only, for the most part. We had so many issues with that box, the GM was proficient in bypassing failed modules.

I screwed up in my post to state that the Energy Onix power amp that I purchased is an FM power amp. It is on the air now running fine,
but we don't know how to set up the remote control functions.

Thank you for the link to the Energy Onix AM transmitter manuals, as we are also running the 500 watt version on our AM station, its
only on the air at 250 watts, which is what we are licensed for.

I have to be honest we have had no problems in the 5 years we have been running our AM transmitter. From some of the posts out ther
it looks like we have been very lucky with its performance so far :D

They tend to be fine until they...aren't. Then the fun starts.

Let me guess....you also enjoy long root canals, and walks by the toxic waste dump :D

I did look to see if I still had any documentation from the Bernie box we had. Must have disposed of it, probably with extreme prejudice, when we got rid of the transmitter. To contrast that, I still have the docs from the QEI 10SS exciter we bought when we first went on the air...in 1978. Still have the exciter, too. It is on the air right now while the newer exciter is our for repairs.
