Aphex Compellor

Post by mrmodulation » Tue Aug 08, 2017 2:42 am

Just bought my first compellor it is a 323A and I'm hoping to find a copy of the manual. I know most of you guys have experience with these boxes .

I would like to know about the following:

Model numbers, optimum settings, known faults, mods ect...

Clinton;

I have a printed manual. Message me with the email address and I'll scan it for you.
There are some recommended settings in the book, depending on what you are using it for. It's really hard to make a Compellor sound bad though.
No common failures, no mods that are worthwhile. They work just fine out of the box.

I find the recommended settings are pretty important as a starting point.

Any body know of any compellor 320a's sitting around collecting dust? Unfortunately I didn't realize the 323 is a mono unit and I want to run stereo. Another 323 would do just fine and I'm always looking for non working units for spares.

Just an FYI that you can't gang 323's for stereo as there's no link signals available externally.

@mrmodulation: The 323A has the latest features as does the 320A (and 320D). Older models lack some of the bass and improvements that have been integrated into the Compellor through time.

Thank you for the comments bill, I want to try it out as a test Setup stereo link isn't all that important because I intend to use one of the 323's on my SW transmitter and the other on my.ham rig. I will use a 320a in stereo mode when I can get one... :)
