Need Help Fixing Simian Automation/Broadcast Tools Problem

Post by jp2 radio » Tue Jun 02, 2015 7:50 pm

i started an LPFM recently using Simian and Broadcast Tools ASc 8.2. All
the macros and hotkeys in Simian where working fine. Different feeds to
switcher where working fine changing back and forth at designated time.

i had an engineer install an Aphex Compellor last weekend in the loop
before the switcher. he did make some adjustments to ASI 5620 cards and to
switcher audio levels.

i am wondering if you had any ideas how i can get Simian and the switcher
to talk again. I have rebooted both the automation pc and the ASC 8.2 but
no luck

Kind regards

What your engineer did should not have affected things - he must have disturbed some other cabling to the switcher or the automation, unless he went into Simian and changed settings in the program. You need someone local who is familiar with the Simian/BT combo to come in and check it out.

Maybe he bumped the serial cable, or moved it to another port. When he changed the Simian settings, did he have to reboot the pc? if so, maybe the serial port settings reverted to some default that won't connect to the BT switcher. BT used to have a scan program on their website that helped 'find' a switcher and it's serial port settings.
