Would if I could, they leave this building and go off to corporate land where I have no access to the streams without using my own user/login.

I've been tinkering with SoundSolutions off and on just for the coolness factor of having an audio processor for FREE! I think I finally have a setting that is top-40 loud and fairly clean. Samples are through Winamp Remote here with login of loudinclear and password of albash. It's a personal PC, so it won't be up all the time

I've been working on resurrecting my internet-only since I moved to a new house in Franklin...but as with any home-engineering project, I'm getting a little carried away! My wife gave the okay for an AudioArts R55e console (12 channel). That, along with PSI101 (the bare-bones version of NexGen) for automation, an RE20 mic, and dbx 166 processor. The airchain was an Aphex Compellor and a Aphex Exciter, which worked okay (nothing stellar), but the Compellor's right channel is starting to die on me...so after a little research (read as: I called BroadcastDoc for advice), I downloaded the demo of the SoundSolution's stand alone version (I couldn't get the WinAmp-plugin free version to recognize the linein:// on any of my audio cards -- M-Audio 44 & Echo Layla). I'm very happy with SoundSolution. It's pretty sweet -- the defaults make my Christian Contemp format sound a bit over-processed, but some tweaking should hopefully loosen it up a bit. Anyway, I'll try to get a pic or two up here soon of my way-too-geeked-out setup. I hope to start streaming again by Christmas!

Speaking of that...I have a preset that may work for you. I'll email it when I get a sec.

I haven't streamed in years, but here is the setup in WinAmp at this moment (subject to me messing with it) --

DSP MuchFX2 V1.0111.1

which has the following DSPs loaded (in order)

1) Tomass Limiter V1.0
Gate -57 db
Limiter Overdrive 0%

Process- full soft
Low attack 100msec
High attack 14 msec
LF release 863 msec
HF release 439 msec
0% bass depth
0% LF band link
No clipper

No stereo expander

2) OctiMax for WinAmp 1.4104
Rock preset
Full drive
No bass gain
Noise Reduction disabled

(try it out -- http://home.joncentral.us/broadcastengi ... sp_omx.DLL )

Audio is PCM 44.1 KHz Stereo. No compromises on quality.

Hey KC8RYW...

Do you just play your WAV's in WinAmp itself, or are you using some other player/automation system feeding into it? (I'm curious because I've had such frustration with trying to use the various linein: input plug-ins with WinAmp.)

I'm just using WinAmp with DirectSound Output V. 2.4.6(d). It does a decent job of segueing between songs.

Settings:

Buffer length: 20,000 ms
Prebuffer on start/seek/underrun: 1,033 ms
Buffer ahead on track change: 61,000 ms
[ticked] Enable CPU Usage control

Default fade length: 0 ms

Silence remover
[ticked] remove silence at beginning/end of track
Cutoff -15.0 db

Volume control
[unticked] Enable volume control

The playback computer is a Celeron 550 MHz running Windows 98SE. :?

It pulls the audio files across 100 switched Ethernet from a read-only Samba share on Ubuntu.

I've been using a Behringer Ultra-Curve Pro. Love it.

OK I am reading over this stuff and I think you guys are maybe going a bit overboard. I run 3 stations here and all stream off one PC. I use a free program called http://www.radiodj.ro as it works pretty good. Just requires MySQL to be running but oh well small pittens. I then run everything out of that into a Virtual audio cable software. then it runs into a version of http://altacast.com/ which was Edcast back in the day. I run it to a shoutcast v2 server and that sends it out to the public. I am using AACP at 96k as I am told that is HD or Clear Channel's versions of HD. So if you want to do it on the cheap you can, and be free per say other than paying for music ASCAP/BMI deal.

Behringer 9024. And that alone is overkill...considering MOST net stream listeners are using tiny earphones or tiny built in speakers on a laptop.

That sounds (haha) way overkill, even far more than the majority of terrestrial stations processing in the digital realm for HD.

I wonder how much of all that is actually heard on those tiny earphones and laptop speakers? !! I bet however that would sound very sweet on a nice hi-fi system with it's component tuner dialed in on a nice wide C-QUAM signal!

Hey guys, what are your thoughts on my streaming setup?

Using a Macintosh desktop and Radiologik software to program my music... and NiceCast with effects, etc for my final mix to the net. I have Presonus Firepod for an interface where my music programming comes out of the mac and into a Yamaha 16 channel mixer. Then back out again right back to the Presonus Firepod and out to the net. I use a Waves plugins on NiceCast with LL3 multiband compression, and an LL3 Limiter.

For the Jock, got an EV RE20 mic with EV boom, running in to a Presonus TubePre, then in to a DBX 266 compressor/gate, and then in to an old Aphex Aural Exciter with Big Bottom and then back in to the mixer board.

Would love to do some tweaking on my multi compressor, but other than that... I think our overall sound is pretty dang awesome!

Any thoughts?

Back when I was streaming I had started with a pair of dbx Quantum 4 banders, then I moved to an Aphex 2020 and ended up with an Optimod 6200 DAB that originally came from a DTV headend. The Orban was the best of them all, especially since you're able to dial back the bandwidth and prevent the encoder from chewing on data that will never reach the listener anyways.
