Re: SX 2.5 Won't Power on No Lights

"War story time"............ Back in the day when I was selling xmttrs, I always insisted that a complete check of all nuts and bolts be done during installation. Quite frequently, I assisted in installations and we always checked hardware. We always found a few that could be tightened more. The ori...

Re: AM Transmitter Shelter

Those cell buildings are really nice. If you go that route, MEASURE YOUR EQUIPMENT TO SEE IF IT WILL FIT IN THE DOOR . Second the comment on the sampling lines and also the transmission line as the tx lines factor into the phasing of the array. The other thought is to go with a prefab customized out...

Re: Harris HT-35CD No filament voltage.

Strange situation to say the least. Had run into filament voltage probs on an HT-25 (I think the low level circuits are pretty much the same as the '35) that were traced to a failing external fil voltage regulator. Though, probably not in your case. Only other think I can think of is a failing fil v...

Re: I THINK IT IS TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING

Got one other story....... "Back in the day", I got a call that an FM was off the air "up Nort". Found the basement got flooded and the FM rig was "kinda wet". Gas company guy for some reason visited the site and shut off the gas to the station. Station experienced a power failure and the sump pump ...

Re: Gates One Blows PA Fuses w/ Modulation

Waaaay back when, Harris had a similar fuse holder issue in their DX-10. That case was caused by insufficient tightening of the bolt holding the clip on the circuit board. The clip wasn't tight enough to provide proper tension to the fuse which failed slowly due to heating.

Re: Cablewave 738350 3-1/8" EIA Flange (pressurization)

There is one trick that might work IF THE FLANGE AT THE XMTR is gas tight. You could disconnect those two outside flanges and drill two small holes in each of the insulators to allow gas to pass thru them. Bolt them back together. Then seal up the holes on the exterior part of the flange, thus elimi...

"WARNING, WILL ROBINSON"!

Weeeelllll! It's headed East so get your long handled underwear with the built-in trap door ready. Here in the Racine area where I live, we had negative numbers we ain't seem since the 70's. Car started ok after being outside all this time. I think we hit -25 overnight. Rear view mirror temp readout...

Re: Snow removal on 5 meter dish

Second on the black smooth cover. Got a dish on top of a hill that gets covered. Instead of it hitting me on the head, with the dish right on the ground the snow always falls into my boots. Brrrrr, it gets cold. However, if you have a shop vac handy, take and reverse the hose into the exhaust and hi...

Re: HT-10 APC issues

You might try bypassing the IPA and feed the final direct from the exciter to see if the AM noise changes to rule out an IPA problem. There should be an adaptor on the back rail in the xmttr to use for the bypass test. You will need to raise the output power of the exciter to get enough drive to the...

I am gonna SWAG this one. I don't think location is super critical. I have a gut feeling the resistor was placed in a "convenient and inexpensive" location.

Which smoke---outta our nostrils, or ears, or both?

We have used the H, BH, GBH, and the GBFH with total immunity.

Our next effort is to go thru the metering board and wiring one more time. We could have missed something really simple by over-thinking the problem

Re: BE FM-5BS PROBLEM

Hi Chuck: Remember, the controller/controller cage and APC works in another rig. Entire IB is on line at BE......but the one major drawing I need....the wire runs with numbers is not in the book. That makes tracing this stuff really hard. There is a full blown filter board in the controller cage----...

Replaced a couple chips that got whacked on main ctrlr card. Meters come back to life. Xmttr makes power. Lost filter choke in P/S.during t...

Re: Warren Shulz has passed away

I had some great times working with Warren. I was in a unique position as an "arms dealer" supplying equipment to both Warren and Gary Shrader. These were two of the three best radio engineers I ever met/sold equipment to, (Al Antlitz) was the third guy) and were always trying to top each other with...
