Re: Harris Z-series with Burk Plus Connect interface
According to the documentation from Harris there are 2 status items in the serial protocol. As to what the difference is, I am not sure. Just pick whichever one works for you :D Capture.PNG As for the Z20, the system controller is from the PT transmitter era. There is no serial connection availa...

Re: Collision of Frame Rates Internationally
First up, Tour de France and Eurovision are produced natively at 25 frames per second, and at minimum in HD (Euro might be 4K now). Since these are "big ticket" items they will be delivered internationally in high quality. Hence they look good on Aus HD channels. Contrast this to news, where immedia...

Re: Harris/Gates support
They ended up selling us an HT30/35 IPA Power Supply retrofit kit that might work for $1200. I'm happy to report that she's been happy ever since... but this transmitter is less than a decade old and they won't support it? How ridiculous is that! $1200? Is it gold plated and capable of doing your t...

Repair Log: BE FXi-60
Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! This is a quick repair log of a Broadcast Electronics FXi-60 exciter. It has been in continuous service for a little over 10 years before developing it's first fault - when it went from working just fine to totally dead. When it ended up on my bench, I removed the...

It's now on air!
Although at only 3.2kW TPO it's like driving a high performance sports car at only 10MPH
Also, here is the correct link to the article Jeff mentioned.

Re: Nautel NV20 repair/restoration
DeepThought: have sent you a PM. I agree that a full schematic of the Tectrol power supply would have been a great help, but not having one was not much of a hindrance in the end. In these situations I like to identify all the major semiconductors and hunt down the data sheets and application notes....

More progress to report, with the last of a few small jobs taken care of: install new blower fans into front door including new connectors re-install low voltage power supply modules re-connect reject loads re-install and connect modulators With the low voltage power supplies installed and all con...
Re: OMB GP-6
I'd be suspicious of the replacement jumpers too. The damaged ones would give you a good idea what their length is supposed to be. I'd also want to know how well the connectors were installed to the new jumpers. I'm not trying to pass comment on the ability of the previous tower workers, but I have ...

This transmitter will initially be used as a main for a community station (TPO 4kW) so it will have a very easy return to service.
