Re: RX-only C-band receive station registration, form 312

the FCC will use Google Earth to spot-check for the existence of the dish being registered. This will be an issue for the client I'm working on now, because GE is not updated to show an overhead view of the new studio building (and dish) built in 2016. You might want to check GE to see if your dish...

Re: RX-only C-band receive station registration, form 312

This is horse $h*t. And where is the NAB on helping smaller broadcasts that do not have this in their budgets? Sure as hell not advocating for us I can tell you that. As far as the NAB is concerned, if it doesn't bother Clear Channel, it don't bother them. I've got my FCC attorney working on filing ...

Re: Getting RDS to transmitter

Do you have internet service at the tower? I've got my Nexgen pushing artist/title over the public internet to my FMB80 over the public internet since I use copper for my STL. And since you've obviously got line of sight, you might look at a couple of Ubiquiti PowerBeam 5AC 400s for an IP-STL link.

Re: GatesAir suspends AM TX sales (Radio World)

I'm thinking that Gates/Harris is devoting all their resources to the TV Repack. They will be supplying FM transmitters as well as TV transmitters because of the Repack...so AM Rigs take a back seat. My guess is that this is going to be a 3 year long dry spell for AM rigs from them. They might as w...

Re: Harris/Gates support

I had a similar conversation with a Harris rep. I took them off my spec list. When a station owners wants me to spec a new transmitter for them, it's Nautel or someone else builds it. How far the mighty have fallen. I got into a little argument with them a couple NABs ago about this very thing. Voic...

Re: Factory Reset XDS PRO1P

I wound up calling WWO to reset it. I was wanting to not get them involved...but oh well.

Thanks buddy.

Factory Reset XDS PRO1P

I've got a PRO1P on WWO that the default logins do not work anymore. Anyone know if these things are factory resetable?

Re: Audemat FMB80 RDS and RCS..

I'm trying to get RCS MAstercontroll to output data to my FMB80 RDS unit but I'm having no luck (to display Radiotext Now playing). Anyone know what format of ASCII data I need to send via the UDP stream? And how do I configure my FMB80? I've created a port on the FMB80 set to receive the UDP ASCII...

Sage Endec --> audemat fmb80

Curios if anyone has had any luck interfacing the Sage and FMB80. I have both boxes co-located at my transmitter site and since they both have serial ports, there's got to be a way for them to talk.

Re: Rigol DSA815 Lower cost portable spectrum analyzer

I have messed with one of these a few times and really like the unit. Yesterday one of the guys used one for an NRSC msmt. His only slightly negative comments related to storing the traces. It looked like it took several somewhat non-intuitive steps. Other that that, it was pretty quick. Fossil I p...

Re: Base Jumpers

"sad" news? Hard to feel sad for people who willingly break the law only to have it catch up with them like this.

and you can pull the disconnect to the elevator, they will just climb the tower. Granted, the elevator makes it a much more desirable target.

These Nautels are rock solid. It's all I spec anymore. They are now what Harris and BE used to be.

Re: Spot the transmitter

No, nothing wrong with it. I have a PA module giving me a few problems, but as long as I don't push it too hard it's alright.

The first FM transmitter I ever got my mitts on was a CCA2500E. now, that same power is in 5 RUs.

Does the FCC even look at the STA apps?

About 4 years ago, I went down to try and help a small AM station in Alabama. it was a total cluster, but was able to get them back up and going. Two months later they file for a silent STA because of a "catastropic" failure on the Harris SX1. While I was there I installed a BE AM1A. Every three mon...
