Re: Adding Genlock

Am I the only one that calls AJA "ah-ja"? Every product video they always just call it A-J-A but I like the first way better lol See post above. The name actually comes from the first initials of the owner’s sons. So I read somewhere. So it is properly A J A, but he has been asked about it, too. So...

Re: Remote Start AEQ BC 500 - Automation

For a time Enco was marketing a system that included an AEQ console if I remember right. That info probably doesn’t help here very much. Somebody might be able to answer your question if we knew what automation you’re running.

Re: Adding Genlock (OT)

I have an AJA shirt I won as a door prize at an SBE meeting years ago. When I wear it around people who aren’t familiar with the brand and they ask me what it means, I just say it’s Spanish for AHA!

Re: Optimod 2200

Had this problem on a different Optimod AM product but 6 months to a year between incidents. And there were quite a few years before this started - perhaps pointing to caps. It hadn’t happened often enough to be able to ‘shoot it before I left the building. Power reset took care of it. I don’t remem...

Re: DBX286 processor with RJ-45 audioarts board

Of course the DBX has a mono 1/4 inch output... At the risk of oversimplifying: there’s your trouble! From your description, I’m guessing the cable you are using to go from the dBx to the XLR adapter is either mono straight-thru or stereo straight-thru but since the output JACK on the dBx is mono, ...

X-band DXing

Never noticed this before. Usually not much DXing up here but this evening (during the 1st Q!) on my car radio in the driveway, there was a station coming in quite strong on EVERY frequency. To include 1600 & 1610, technically not Xband. Didn’t stick around for IDs due to the fact I was delivering d...

Re: Snow removal on 5 meter dish

My previous stations have a broom on a telescopic pole that gets all the way to the top of a 3.7M dish with the bottom of the dish about 3-1/2 feet off the ground. To get the stubborn stuff they have a thing called a Snow-Brum which is a sort of soft plastic snow rake with rather sharp seams around ...

Re: Gates One Blows PA Fuses w/ Modulation

I would strongly suggest finding a way to do the internal measurement under power without cheating interlocks. There’s often a way of sneaking a couple of test leads out of the cabinet without bypassing interlocks. Different situation but I once had to measure some voltage in a Continental 315F 10kw...

Re: High Reflected Power Puzzle

A question: does the spur appear when operating into the dummy load, or only when working into the antenna? What happens when you add your ‘SWR inserter’ with the line feeding the antenna? Forgive me if you’ve already addressed these ideas - the thread’s getting too long for me to remember everything!

Re: Simian Automation Folder Architecture

Yeah I’m sure Simian is way different today than WaveStation was then. Does anyone see any problem doing that? No. I think that’s exactly what you need. In that previous WaveStation installation of mine, the studios were moved while I was on what turned out to be a sabbatical. Someone else set it up...
