Re: WWV WWVH

CHU is on 3330/ 7850 / 14670 kHz. 7850-7335=515 kHz. I reckon that’s more than a “slight” freq shift! Would put it out of the tuning range of some of the older “ham-only” receivers. I had an HQ-110. EVERYthing not ham was out of range for that, even 7335. (Except on 20,15,& 10 meters where there was...

Re: 500w translator

K285ET was listed as K265ET for several years due to a typo/error on an application. The freq was changed to be wrong, too, although consistent with the call sign, which put the xlator on the first adjacent to its parent. Not unheard of at 60 miles away but not terribly practical were it true.

Re: WWV WWVH

We have an old Oregon Scientific WWVB-synced clock that won’t pick up the sync signal unless we put it out on a west-facing window sill and manually force it to sync, adjusting the loaded wire antenna until it registers the signal, then come back about 5 minutes later and it’s ready. Everyone has de...

It doesn’t mention the VLF stations. Suppose they’ll stay?

Re: WKRP

What is that under the INO? Looks like a McMartin item with the wood grain.

Harking back a post: the former WNAB! Given the English meaning of cumbre, if they had had to, they could have settled for WSUM. But they didn’t have to.

Re: WKRP

There IS a WKR C in Cincinnati which was owned by Taft back then (iHeart now). The GM in the show, Arthur Carlson, was reportedly named after the then-President (or CEO or one of those) of Susquehanna Broadcasting, who was (reportedly) not amused. The beauty of it is that it is so typical of how rad...

Re: Processing Pre or Post STL?

Is the STL a composite STL? If so, this looks ok as it is. I might consider adding some kind of level rider ahead of the fiber link. Different story if this is not a composite STL or if we were talking about an AM station.

Re: Anyone Home?

Bill,

Do you mean there’s no game, just commercials then dead air where the game is supposed to be?

Wow, how far ol’ Service 6 has fallen. (I’m surmising that’s who we’re talking about.)

ID Rule

There are two exceptions to the rule (actually not exceptions - it’s part of the rule) for the COL to follow the call letters: 1) the frequency may be inserted, 2) the licensee name may be inserted. So, technically, the 101.5 station was properly identified IF “-FM” is part of the call sign. If not,...

It’s in the picture of the transmitter in the OTHER thread on transmission line.

We’ll have to hear your story later.

Re: BE AM 1A Power meter not working in FWD

Doesn’t reflected read on a separate meter on the AM-1A? I am familiar with only one of these which was installed in 2003. The top meter reads forward power in two ranges selectable by a switch whose third position is OFF and is the position we generally leave it in when thru with it. I don’t think ...

Re: BCST ELECT MVDS SYSTEM

Got a 35B with one. The monitor has just recently lost its mind and displays what looks like an analog TV picture with the horizontal hold not holding.

Station is being sold so it will likely be someone else’s problem/project.

It wasn’t in the dryer long. It will work; it just won’t shut itself down or has something else going on that drains the battery.
