Re: Does the FCC keep track somewhere of subchannels?

northpine.com keeps pretty good track of DTV and FM-HD subchannels but only for the Upper Midwest. They do change a lot, probably one reason the FCC doesn’t keep track of them.

Re: RING MY BELL

So does a news story count? (i.e.: part of a newscast rather than a separate “announcement” as we in the industry typically think of as a PSA?) Reading 11.46, it’s just unclear enough (what with the qualifications “...infomercials or programs” [infering that length or being paid for are not issues] ...

Re: RING MY BELL

My VZ flip fone got it, at least it was on the screen for me when I was reunited with it. Didn’t hear it sound off and everything was on. The screen message was not date-time stamped which was less than helpful had it been real. I have an iPhone which isn’t a phone at the moment. (No longer on compa...

Excellent creative solution to the legal problem! Needs to be a textbook example. NAB?

On the other hand, here's a Denver TV reporter who found a way to do a story on the WEA without using prohibited tones, but actual duck noises:

Re: Avarage life of a 3cx15000a7

Don’t know if they’re available for the 3CX and the rig in question but a constant voltage transformer on the filament supply would take care of part of the filament voltage management. Drawback is you can’t adjust it either but it would get rid of the +- 4% variation. At a much lower power level I ...

Re: Phone Patch

Another BTW. The hybrid we used in that late 70’s/early 80’s scenario was made by Studer. You might find one of those inexpensively. Check with engineer types from local full service stations to see if they might have one they’d let you have free.

Re: Phone Patch

Two more thoughts for you. Your diagram looks a lot like what we used to do before consoles had mix minus outputs. (BTW, if your console has AUX busses, you can make your mix-minus with one of those, if free, to feed to the hybrid.) Drawback being that only one microphone can be routed to the caller...

Re: IPAWS Server bouncing?

Guess I’ll have to fire up the 95 machine sitting out in the garage and investigate. I had a suspicion he was right but it was too much fun to argue with him!

Updating it to what? DOS 7?

A fellow I used to work for would, when sufficiently lubricated, insist vehemently that Windows 95 was mounted on DOS 7. Maybe he was right.

Re: Phone Patch

Usually we buy one. The Telos line of products is a favorite. JK Audio has some things worth looking into. Used Gentner hybrids are out there and they are good too. Due to the rising costs and obsolescence - gee, it pains me to say that! - of POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), many broadcasters are...

Re: TX + Bad Memory = Off Air

One wonders how accurate the article really is. Anyway, since they’re a non-profit, transmitter downtime often equals increased donations. At least it does here when every time K-Love has to go off the air for some business on the tower, people go, “We’d better send them some money.” Go figure. I th...

Re: Luci Live/QgoLive not behaving with Bric-link

uncheck the "Listen to this device" box That was the first thing I checked. I should note that it’s Luci Live Lite we are using. (Also note that all this works fine when using Skype which has other issues we are trying to circumvent.) So we tried a different setup, using a USB mic and headphones co...

Re: Luci Live/QgoLive not behaving with Bric-link

There should be no sound card involved. The USB mixer shows up as a separate audio device and it is selected for both in and out. The bizarre thing here is that it works perfectly fine with Skype - but not with the other two mentioned.

Luci Live/QgoLive not behaving with Bric-link

Am trying to get Luci Live Lite to connect with a Bric-Link at the studio. Connecting isn't the problem. It's getting the audio to path correctly. Right now, if the studio (Bric-Link) end feeds anything down the line, it comes right back (with about a second delay) such that you can't have that chan...

Re: ASI Card AES cable

Or...as I wrote on another forum...you can take solid wire pairs like that used on punch blocks, strip the ends and poke them into the jack. Works on the analog in/out; don’t know if it would on the digital I/Os. Just a temporary solution, of course, but it’s a perfect fit even though you’re putting...
