Sample lines: curiosity question

So, I'm a TV guy & probably missing something dumb here but... Why do AM sample lines use such heavy-duty cable? I see discussion in the current thread of using LDF4-50, which is not exactly cheap:) Surely there isn't enough power in the sample lines to require anything that large? Wouldn't somethin...

Re: Definition of a heartstopper

Every quarter, one of our local Chevy dealers runs 30-second spots that are silent...black background with supers that slowly fade in and out. They get my attention! :D Uggh. We had a local advertiser do that a year or two ago. Drove us batty: the silence sensor would go off every other break... We...

Re: Proposal XML

XML is a rather broad standard. Saying "we need this order submitted in XML format" without elaborating is kinda like saying "I want to buy a transmitter" without specifying whether you mean 50kw AM, 100 watt FM, or ATSC 3.0 TV. There seem to be some possibly relevant XML definitions on this page at...

Re: ATSC 3.0

Well, again that's where the nightlight thing comes in. I don't think the idea of several owners share a single nightlight station is going to be confined to the Phoenix demonstration project. The hope... is that at some point down the line, enough ATSC 3.0 receivers are out there that the nightligh...

Re: ATSC 3.0

1. You need two whole channels to properly transmit ATSC 3.0. Especially in larger markets and especially now with the repack, like here in the WDC market, there's zero room for stations to just go out and get a second channel. As with ATSC 1.0, large markets started the drive. If all the channels ...

Re: AM station to shut down at end of May 2019

From context I think he's talking about WQUN-1220 in Connecticut. It's a Class B station - somewhat to my surprise, as it was a daytimer at least in the 1970s.

Re: Audio cable for AM transmitter site? Star Quad or Ethernet or What?

We *used* to use the little red ScotchCode stickers & used clear heat shrink to protect. (they wouldn't stay put in a situation where there was any movement) Worked very well but more time-consuming to install. Negligible for one or two wires, far less so when wiring an audio console or routing swit...

Selenio X100 & Rules Engine

Anyone ever worked on one of these?

I need to switch inputs under GPI control. This isn't one of the pre-defined GPI actions.

It looks like I need to run
<assignment>:==PARAM[16]=1
(or =2)

I have no idea what's supposed to go in for "assignment".

Thanks!

Re: Audio cable for AM transmitter site? Star Quad or Ethernet or What?

We bought a Brady BMP41. https://www.bradyid.com/en-us/product/bmp41 A bit expensive but not horrible. It'll make labels for a variety of wire sizes. (including 8451/9451 audio; 8723 data; 1855/1694 video, among others) They stick reliably and are easy to print & apply. We made the mistake of wiring...

Re: NBC Namedropper Trigger Configuration Help

We did put a URL in a few weeks ago when the Weather Service changed the IP. Wish I could remember how -- will try to remember to look it up tomorrow.

(not at work right now because a Chyron crash led to a 4am phone call:( )

You mean we're not the only station with "WARNING! TURN OFF RADAR DETECTORS!" signs fastened to the fence around our dishes?
