Thanks

Re: Low Power AM ATU question....

Hi, No the MJF just wasnt able to do it. I emailed MFJ and they pretty much said it just won't work, with any antenna, I asked them about modifications (which there are apparently!) - but they couldn't comment or suggest any - invalidate warranty ect.... !! So trial and error with a base loaded (abo...

Connector suppliers....

Hi, Ok, so I generally use a combination of Spinner, Andrews and RFS connectors - but is there a cheaper alternative out there? I'm looking to buy a stock of adapters such N to EIA 7/8, EAI 7/8 to 7/16" ect.... Stuff to get me out of a pickle!!! Who would you recommend? I would continue to use the p...

Re: Low Power AM ATU question....

Thanks. Ok, so I have managed to tune the base loaded antenna - but as someone said - its incredibly narrowband! Only about 30khz approx. The resonant sweet spot can vary depending on weather (by about 20khz), so I need to weather proof the house of the loading coil. Hopefully it will be stable then.

Low Power AM ATU question....

Hi folks, I'm going on vacation to the UK in January and I'm doing some work for a friend who is running a low power medium wave/ AM station at a hospital. He's tried to fine match the antenna (base loaded 7m vertical) with a MJF Versatuner Deluxe II 949E but the ATU is making no improvement what so...

Audemat FMB80 RDS and RCS..

Hello, I'm trying to get RCS MAstercontroll to output data to my FMB80 RDS unit but I'm having no luck (to display Radiotext Now playing). Anyone know what format of ASCII data I need to send via the UDP stream? And how do I configure my FMB80? I've created a port on the FMB80 set to receive the UDP...

Cleaning old connectors...

Hi all,
I have a box of cut off connectors which have been salvaged over the years. Andrews, RFS ect....
Some of which have the Butyl rubber on them and would take quite a bit of effort to clean them up.
Any suggestions as to what will remove Butyl/Plasty and some even have Denzo.

Thanks

Bluetooth interface...

Hi,
Does anyone know of a professional 2 way (duplex) bluetooth interface - something you could pair up and hook up an line/mic input and take an output from? There's a bunch of stuff on eBay, but I'm looking for a professional build unit.

Thanks

Re: SWR/Return loss question???

No change with the unused port open - or terminated with a dummy load.
My understanding is its recommend to terminate it with a test load. Is this correct - and why?

Thanks

Re: SWR/Return loss question???

Thanks everyone. That helps a lot.
That level of reflection doesnt concern me too much, but I'd like it to be 0!
The transmitter were using (Rhode and Schwarz) has a very low threshold for VSWR protection! It'll go into protect mode for the smallest reflection!

Streaming monitoring?

Hi,
Does anyone know of a low cost (or better still - FREE!) software package to monitor a webstream?
Something that can send an email - or even be monitored via SNMP?
I dont want to simply play the stream and use a virtual patch with a silence detector - it need to be an all in one package.

Thanks!

Re: SWR/Return loss question???

Thanks,
Its actually a combined site, two hybrid combiners - there was three FM service, now there's only two. The end of chain wideband input is unused.
It's probably an idea to look at doing a full sweep of the antenna system - and the combiners - one by one.

SWR/Return loss question???

Hi everyone, Im seeing a small amount of reflected power on an antenna system - 1500watts FWD - and 20w REF - its at the top of the band and 106.9Mhz so I'm thinking maybe 106.9 is approaching the upper limit of the antenna (Sira dipole). I managed to reduce the reflection from 20watts to 4watts by ...
