Re: CW Plus Programming with SAP

Some of NBC's programming has descriptive video, although I don't have a current tally of the shows. Sunday Night Football has a Spanish track.

Re: Tandberg EN8040 Voyager firmware

Contacting Ericsson is the only way I know of...and that model has been around long enough it may not be supported anymore. Good luck.

Re: RING MY BELL

And then, NBC Newschannel distributes a package about the test, voiced by Jay Grey, with nat sound of the TONES at the end. So stupid...they ought to know better. They did send a corrected pack, but still... I anticipated this, and explicitly warned our news department ahead of time. The urg...

Re: Phone Patch

Usually we buy one. One major reason for that is that for many years the best hybrids have used digital signal processing on the caller audio, and that is something that you are not likely to be able to homebrew. One caveat about the Gentner hybrids - the digital ones use proprietary ICs. All of th...

Re: WireReady Automation

One of my stations has been using it for most of this century, and one studio has migrated from XP with M-Audio cards to Win7 and a Roland Octacapture USB audio interface. Still is as Lee describes, once you set it up, it chugs away. I can't comment about the quirks too much because someone else is ...

Re: BE AM1A Question

...On hot days outside (ambient in the 90's) the transmitter would eventually shut down due to overtemp in the afternoons. I seem to recall the ops guy going down there one day that it died and he said the thermometer in the shed read in the 100's. After that, the owner did put in an exhaust fan in...

Re: Luci Live/QgoLive not behaving with Bric-link

I think Windows 10 gives any bidirectional audio device, internal or USB, the ability to monitor the input. Input Properties>Listen>uncheck the "Listen to this device" box if it's checked.

As an aside, have you played with the Field Tap app?

Re: 3M/Scotch 66 Block Connector

I wanted to add something to this old thread. I have found that if you have some ST's on some old wires, it is possible, with a sharp knife and a greenie, to very carefully pry the connector apart, clear the wire, and reassemble it. It seems to be OK for reuse, but if you were concerned about contac...

A rather annoying form of job security, I guess.
But far more satisfying than dropping off editing laptops at the Apple Store. :?

Re: Tantalum caps

Sounds like our old Panasonic DVC Pro cameras. After 3-4 years, the video would turn green. That was really the one and only sign. But once it did, we knew what that meant. We originally had done the caps in house on them, but then started sending them out to SpecComm in Maryland(?) to get recapped...

Re: Capacitor replacement.

Two AM sites I care for have a common practice of old; the tower light neutrals are bonded to the tower steel, and the neutral bonded to tower ground on the "cold" side of the lighting choke, which lets the lighting choke double as the static drain. In those setups, the doghouses are all several hun...

Re: Sigma CD... HALP

Last few times I had that happen, the tube had arced inside the input cavity. $$$$ On our old Sigma, we started with one tube, then added another PA section. Tube 1 lasted the life of the transmitter in our plant, which was until we fell back to our old VHF frequency and back into the cradle of sol...
