Re: Arrakis ARC-10 USB Noise

We looked at the Tascam products and found their low cost two-track units will not do more than +10 out as they use the PC's power supply or a wall wart. We've looked a lot of places and the Henry is the best thing going ...even at $500 for stereo I/O...for a professional studio. It's very quiet an...

Re: Arrakis ARC-10 USB Noise

Had the same problem with two Arc-15 consoles. Only way I found around the issue was to not use the Onboard USB and use an external one and use an iDefender3.0 with that setup. I first started with buying an iDefender3.0 which helped a little but still did not get rid of the noise. The iDefender is...

Arrakis ARC-10 USB Noise

Hey, The company got me an Arrakis ARC-10 to replace our aging newsroom board. I got everything wired up including using the board's USB to plug into the studio's WIN 10 dell desktop computer to record into adobe audition. Well, as soon as you hit record, you hear a high pitched tone in the backgrou...

Re: Remote Control Recommendcations

I have two sicon8s installed in my markets. This was off the recommendation of the previous engineer. I will second the motion that they are a PITA to setup. And the difference between the web interface and the sicontroller interface make them even worse. Oh, and right now, I can't even access the w...

Re: XDS PRO4R Manual?

Well, according to one of the other engineers in the company, it doesn't matter if the XDS has a livewire output, because it is currently not active. So, AES audio it is.

XDS PRO4R Manual?

Hey, So we just got a new XDS box for the CBS news move. And it's not the PRO4Q, but a PRO4R! Which means built in Livewire and Livewire GPIO! (Sorry, very excited that I don't have to solder up another DB-9 connector and can connect it to our AXIA network.) Now the problem that I have is that I hav...

Re: EAS Antenna Issue

We're the LP-2 for the area. 104.9 is the LP-3, but it's in the same building as the LP-1. So, the idea is that if something happens to the LP-1, the LP-3 can act as the LP-1 and get the info to us and then we work our way down the chain like normal. Once a year they try this out for one of the RMTs...

EAS Antenna Issue

Hey! It's your neighborhood IT guy with another RF problem. So we've got an EAS issue going on right now that I'm trying to find a solution to. The attached photo shows what's going on. We're the blue star. The right map point in the EAS station we're supposed to be listening to. 104.9 @ 6 KW. It's ...

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)

Hey All, IT guy here now put in charge of moving our dish now that our engineer has retired. We've got our massive main dish still pointed at AMC-8. But we've got a spare mesh dish on a polar mount that used to be pointed at Galaxy 16. So my thought was: #1. Move the mesh dish to AMC-15. #2. Move al...

Cleaning out the basement

Hey, So I've been working for 3 years now, and I've finally got the approval to go full AXIA (5 station cluster - with wiring that's a cluster). I'm taking this upgrade to also clear house a bit of old wiring and equipment. And that's when I discovered the engineering caches stored all over this bui...

Re: FM Translator pole size?

Hey All, Sorry I didn't get back sooner, Christmas called. The link to the antenna is: http://www.bext.com/broadcast-antennas/tfc2k/ I checked the spec sheet and a 2 bay version of this antenna has a wind load of 136 lbs @ 100 mph. The tower is right next to our studio. And it used to be owned by th...

FM Translator pole size?

Hey all, So I'm an IT guy who's been tasked with setting up an FM translator. (Don't ask, I brought it upon myself to broaden my horizons) Now the antenna setup that we're using is a two bay BEX-TFC2KN setup. We're going to be mounting this on a cell tower next to the studio building. There's alread...

Spacing XDS units in a rack?

Hey, So I'm doing some cleaning up of our cluster here and I've got a bunch of XDS receivers that are pointing to AMC-8. So since we have AXIA, I want to put them all in the same rack. I looked in the XDS setup guide and they give clearance requirements about the sides and back, but nothing about ab...

Re: Off-air monitors?

Junkyard--car radio. I know--desperate solution. This is actually what I'm trying to replace. Current test subject is a C.Crane CCRadio-EP. It's small, AM & FM, under $100, external antenna connections, can handle power outages. Now I just need to figure out how to build a band pass filter or a not...
