Re: Audio Bandwidth of an AM Broadcast Station
It's interesting that there's so little energy in the 0-5 kHz range yet so much more in the 5-10 kHz range. Also, the modulation level seems to be quite low. I wonder what sort of program material was being tranmitted at the time you caught that trace. That could be related to the Pre-emphasis on t...

Bandwidth of MF-950B
Hello, I'm planning on building a new link from an AM site to a new translator site and would like to use an existing MF-950B antenna. I've seen specs that show 940-960 MHz as well as specs that show 890-960 MHz. The plan is to use Ubiquiti 900 MHz equipment and I want to make certain that the anten...

Re: Cost for New AM Facility
Thanks for the information. This is for a go/no-go decision. I have the study performed and some candidate sites. Now, it comes down to the cost to permit and build it. The station in question is in the higher end of the band and the design would necessitate a 3 or 4 tower DA. Unfortunately for this...

Cost for New AM Facility
I'm looking at moving one of our AM radio stations to a new transmitter location and wanted to put together a budget for it to decide if it is worthwhile - or to plan for doing it. I realize there could be quite a big range for these sorts of projects (land, zoning, engineering, phasors, transmitter...

Re: Receiver Preamp?
I'm running into a similar problem with some nearby ham radio equipment at 440 MHz causing issues with the front end of our STL receiver. Conceptually, a bandpass filter should clean things up.
Can anyone recommend a good supplier for one?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Which AM Audio Processor?
Another semi-vintage set to add to your list is the CRL set. The CRL SMP, SEP, and SGC units do very well on music. You will need 3 units: The AGC, the Processor, and the limiter. The AGC-400 (Mono) and SGC-800 (Stereo) are a great AGC to put before your processing stack or STL. The SEP (400/800)is ...

Re: QEI 675 Exciter
Thanks for the advice.
I disconnected the RCA plug on the VCO unit and can see that there is only a DC voltage present leading me to believe that there is an issue inside the VCO. I contacted QEI, and it looks like they still service these modules.

QEI 675 Exciter
Hello, I'm trying to get a QEI 675 Exciter back to functioning again. I was able to download the user manual and schematics and did some troubleshooting (as much as I could with the material in the manual). The problem I'm seeing is that the FMO module appears to be putting nothing out. Most of the ...

Recommendation on STL Combiner
Hi, I'm looking to combine 2 STL transmitters into a common antenna. This is not for a discrete L/R system, but instead for a split site transmission system where the links are 5 MHz apart. I looked at the Marti HRC-10A, although it's specified to work only on 250 kHz spacing differences. Can anyone...

Marti STL-10 Reducing Transmit Power
I came across a Marti STL-10 STL transmitter and am testing it out before potential deployment. I hooked it up to a dummy load and wattmeter and noticed that it drops power from 10W to around 7W after running for an hour or so. Before tapping around with a scope and voltmeter, I figured I would ask ...

I'm also looking for the TTC/Wilkinson 8090X Exciter manual if anyone happens to have one or know where to get one.
Thanks in advance.

Schematic for TTC FMS4000
Hello, When we bought some stations a couple of years ago, we inherited a TTC FMS4000. We have it used, up until now, as a primary transmitter until the exciter failed. I'd like to look into getting it serviced and unfortunately don't have the schematic for it. Does anyone know of a good source for ...

Re: FM Stl - Composite or Mono?
Thanks. I did some looking through the circuit, and I see mention of a 25 kHz High Pass Filter on the receiver's side for the subcarrier. It's a bit more of a stretch to 56 kHz, although I wonder about sending RDS information as the subcarrier. This would be to feed a translator running in Mono mode...

Re: FM Stl - Composite or Mono?
I noticed in looking through the Marti STL-10 documentation that it discusses operation composite mode in addition to dual-mono.
Does anyone have experience on how composite compares with a Marti STL-15C or another purpose-build composite STL system?
