Re: ATSC 3.0
I think 3.0 is going to bring some great revenue generating opportunities but stations need to start promoting it now. Maybe I'm missing something here: why would a station promote something they aren't transmitting? We have to deal with an awful lot of confused viewers as it is... Jeff Yeah that's...

Re: ATSC 3.0
I think 3.0 is going to bring some great revenue generating opportunities but stations need to start promoting it now. You don't hear about it at all outside of the broadcast trades so people don't know about it. I don't think there have been alot of talk about it outside of engineering circles eith...

solar power
Long shot, but anyone using any type of solar power? We are looking at utilizing some of our empty space around the building and a thought was installing solar panels.

Re: NBC Namedropper Trigger Configuration Help

Archive footage licensing
Anyone's station got decades worth of archive stuff on 3/4", beta, etc? I was reading an article on how some stations are licensing out some of their old stuff to make a little extra $$$. I like the idea. Anyone doing anything similar?

Re: Adding Genlock
Well, again, that's that cost/risk tolerance thing:) The stuff that really matters is Evertz, Grass Valley, or whatever Harris is calling themselves these days. But really, I have no complaints with the BMD OpenGear DAs and deembedders, and while the up/down/cross converters lock up occasionally, t...

Re: Adding Genlock
Evertz makes good stuff, although they charge accordingly:) (they do NOT make OpenGear equipment) We use quite a bit of Blackmagic OpenGear DA and de-embedder equipment with success. (and at a better price) We have had a bit of trouble with more sophisticated Blackmagic stuff (format converters) bu...

Re: Snow removal on 5 meter dish
I do have some covers on my network dishes and steerables. Might have to get covers for all the dishes. The issue we ran into with the snow rake is it leaves behind some stuff, then when it starts to warm up that little bit of snow turns to slush. I swear a little bit of that slush in the right spot...

Snow removal on 5 meter dish
So whats everyone using to clean out their large sat. dishes? I have been using a snow rake meant to remove snow from roofs. It works for getting the bulk of snow out, but it leaves behind some because the rake is straight and obviously the dish is parabolic. I usually use a push broom after i hit i...
