Re: Weather Radar

one of the smaller cable companies in my area used to have just a channel with a live radar website up ...i don't recall which website it was but that's all it ran 24/7. It was clearly just a scan converter and a computer..because occasionally the blue screen of death would pop up until someone rest...

Re: Strange skills learned

At an AM site I used to take care of, the farmer next door was allowed to let his cattle graze on the tower property. He installed a "cattle gate" (a grate made of steel tubing) in the driveway underneath the vehicle gate. He assured me that the cattle would not walk across the grate because they d...

Re: C-band TI

To find out what C-band freq you are looking at, subtract the indicated freq on the specan from the LO of the LNB (5150mhz). And hope the LNB is using a standard L.O. of 5150 and not one of those odd-balls. While 5150 is normal, I have seen some unusual ones on older dishes. 70 MHZ I.F modems and L...

Re: C-band TI

funny story...I was part of an exercise in northern michigan. A radar site was set up next to a busy highway. When the radar was active...cars that were on the highway when the radar rotated towards the road were shutting down, car alarms would go off, power windows would turn on and off,etc....they...

Re: RDL ST-SSR1

I talked to their tech support...it will not do AES, which is fine but it would of saved a little time if it did!

Re: X-Y protocol??

all good info, i wasnt looking for anything in particular. Just when you type X-Y protocol into google you don't get much. Not a big fan of Imagine hardware, it's always something with them.

Re: FAA/FCC Regs

I was under the impression that those rules about towers under 200' were not for communications towers, but for meteorological towers. It seemed like the under 200' rule for them was due to the fact meteorological towers are usually much smaller in diameter compared to communications towers and beca...

Tower marking and lighting rules

With my particular background and because the fact I never deal with it in my current position, I am unfamiliar with FAA/FCC tower lighting and marking rules. Is there some resources out there that kind of put them all together? Thanks for the help!
