Re: BE AM 1A Power meter not working in FWD

So true! And now that you mention BE I see it right in the title over and over. I miss having a working brain on days like this.

As it happens, a BE AM1A replaced the Harris MW1A from which those parts came. Isn’t it ironic?

Re: BE AM 1A Power meter not working in FWD

I hope I'm not too late. I have a set of 4 meters (Multimeter, Amperes, Volts, Watts) available. They were pulled from a working retired transmitter (Harris MW 1A) and are still mounted together on their unpainted aluminum mounting plate. I also have spare PA modules that were pulled out for repair ...

Form 315 question

I have been checking out FCC Form 315 for a group with FMs outside of an Arbitron market. The Interim Contour-overlap Methodology section of Worksheet 3 includes a simplified example on page 5. That example makes several references to various contour overlaps of the example stations. There are no vi...

Re: Sparta and LPB mixers

After having a careful look it is clear that everything is similar but different in the two.

So, if anyone out there is supporting a Sparta mixer of the same era, I can provide lots of spare parts - just PM me. Two power supplies, one complete mixer, lots of parts and the chassis of the other.

You can see Sparta pics at:

I don't have detailed pics of the LPB cards or mixer, but I did post what I do have.

Re: Sparta and LPB mixers

This Sparta does have edge connectors. It appears that both the design of and the hardware inside the two mixers is remarkably similar. I say that without actually being able to compare them side-by-side (yet). The switches, large pots (actually step attenuators), transformers, and even transistors ...

Sparta and LPB mixers

I noticed several similarities between the LPB Signature series mixers and a Sparta mixer I came across recently. Do they have a common ancestry? Do modules from one work in the other?

Re: IP Audio CODECs

I have one Bric-Link pair as an STL and it has been terrific. The only issues I have had with that STL link have been with the carrier, Verizon, and with one of the Adtran routers. The web interface makes setup easy. The LEDs on the front make it a snap to verify the connection status and the audio ...

Re: Troubleshooting an intermittent STL ( maybe )

I had the same sort of problem, intermittent audio dropouts, on a Moseley Starlink delivering AES audio. In my case, there was no correlation with the time of day. The problem turned out to be occasional overmodulation from an adjacent-channel analog STL located within the beamwidth of the receive d...

stream multiple stations?

Has anyone set up one PC to stream multiple stations, say 3, simultaneously? How about with a Windows 7 home premium computer - are there any recommendations for a sound card that will work well with Win7, and ios it balanced or unbalanced? Many thanks!

Re: Replacement Mica capacitor

I recorded 100.6 and 101.3 on the oldies, 107.9 and 113.0 on the newbies, with the transmitter chassis at 77.9 degrees. This was from running at 75% power in the afternoon.

Re: Replacement Mica capacitor

I am exploring an upgrade from 293 to 294 caps because I don't trust the newer 293s to handle their rated current load. I checked two older Sangamo caps against two newer CDM caps - all the same type, capacitance, voltage and current ratings. Regardless of physical location, the new ones run 10 to 1...

Re: Squealing Moseley 6000

Thanks for the feedback - I think that confirms my suspicion. The AC has been working, but when cool enough it doesn't cycle on, and the humidity rises noticeably while the temp stays comfortable - 65 or less. So I don't see it as a temperature issue. I'm going to try running a humidifier while benc...
